Friday 55 Flash Fiction #192 Sad....

Jackie picked up the ringing phone.

"I'll be home late tonight" said her husband.

Choking back tears Jackie sobbed.

"What's wrong?  I have to work!"

"OK, don't worry, it's fine" Jackie mumbled.

"What's happened, are you hurt, are the kids OK?"

"Everyone's fine, honestly,

I've been watching my favourite soap and it was so sad!"

Friday 55 Flash Fiction is brought to you by G-man (Mr Knowitall). The idea is you write a story in exactly 55 words. If you want to take part pop over and let G-man know when you've posted your 55.

Been there, my wife was watching some movie that had her crying. She could barely speak and I thought someone had died.

I can still remember being caught by my (ex) husband, sobbing my heart out because a favourite character in a book just died.

He didn't get it. Maybe that's why he's my ex!

Ah, those soaps. Was it John being killed? Or maybe Lewis not being sent down. Or how about Max going off the rails again ;-)
And that Derek. What a s**

Television is a very important part of most people's lives... if only they would admit it!

I remember Den Watts coming back to EastEnders the week I came off heroin and went on to the new medication Subutex. I remember that week so clearly because there was a sudden link years back into the past when Den and Angie Watts were landlords of the Queen Vic and he was calling Sharon "princess"... Know what I mean?!?

Ha, ooh, I see this post has touched a nerve. I'm ashamed to admit I've rarely missed an episode of Eastender's, since tuning in to the very first one!

OMG! When I was a kid home alone while parents were out I watched a movie that made me cry .. parents came home to a daughter who couldnt speak for sobbing . what is wrong what happened who died ... I could only sob .. when I was able to speak I said the movie made me sad .. my parents now relieved both - in unison - exclaimed 'no more TV for you' ...

Some men just don't understand do they AJ?

Ah you've been there too Brian. I have to say the soaps do tend to keep the same storylines.

We have lots of soaps here G-man including some American ones.

You weren't expectring that ending Linda? ;) Have a great weekend yourself m'deario. x

Ha Ha you watch Corrie Anthony!

Yes I know what you mean Gleds, one remembers some plots in soaps because they happen at important times in our lives.

I never miss Corrie and Neighbours Shrinky!

We used to get Knots Landing here too Ron, I loved it.

That's exactly what I was getting at Daryl LOL

Soaps leave me cold but some movies make me cry like a baby. My boyfriend asked me once why I pick movies like that if it's going to make me cry. I think they are cathartic.

Haha!
I think I might need some soap opera distractions.
