Friday 55 Flash Fiction # 151 Hot & Steamy & Where the heck did four years go???

Four years ago today I started this blog, here's how and why it started........

This is my very first entry on my blog. What to write? Hmmmm.......

My blogname 'Akelamalu' is my Hawaian name. No, I'm not Hawaian I got the name from this link
www.blogthings.com/hawaiannamegenerator/
I thought it was cool so used it as I couldn't think of a name myself.

I thought I'd start this blog to keep track of my progress as I'm about to have knee replacement surgery in the very near future. Yes I'm scared but I really have so much trouble walking these days that not having the surgery is not an option. I have a date for my op - 26th February 2007....

Since then I have clocked up 840 posts including this one and my new knee has gone from strength to strength.      I've got over 200 followers, some readers have been with me since almost day one, some have been and gone, and new ones are arriving all the time and I have thoroughly enjoyed getting to know every single one.

Anyway, I'm not sure how long I will carry on but certainly as long as I'm still enjoying myself, so Happy Blogversary to me.

If you've stopped by for my Flash Fiction here it is.

Whew, it's damned hot in here.

It's too full, we're crammed in like sardines.

Can't see a thing through all this steam!

Should that water be cooling us down?

We must be mugs putting ourselves through this

and we'll do it all again tomorrow!

The buzzer sounded.

"It's finished" Gavin shouted "I'll empty the dishwater."

Friday 55 Flash Fiction is brought to you by G-man (Mr Knowitall). The idea is you write a story in exactly 55 words. If you want to take part pop over and let G-man know when you've posted your 55.

Have you thought to scrape the cartilage and implant a piece of your cartilage. They can grow cartilage today. You may not need a replacement I would enquire.

Mom-in-law had both knees replaced in 97, and she's still doing pretty good. She's not running any foot races but she does daily walks and doesn't have any real pain.

We must be mugs...

LOL!!!
Hate to say it but I feel like one of those mugs at times.

At the beginning I was guessing they were refugees from Vietnam...

Happy fourth year Akelamalu... we all hope you'll go on writing sweet stuff like that.

I started mine just over four months ago - lots of catching up to do - better go write some more...

Congratulations on two things: achieving four year status and keeping us amused with your 55s. Well done, you.

I started mine in 2007, too - I had no idea how much it would bring to my life.

Congratulations on four years! I don't think I've been with you from the very beginning but probably pretty close and I plan on sticking with!

I had fun guessing the ending to your story today though I was actually thinking lobsters in a pot for some silly reason!

I had the replacement 4 years ago Lady's Life and anything but a replacement wasn't an option it was too far gone.

If I need to have my other knee replaced I wouldn't hesitate Beach Bum, this one has been a resounding success and given me back my life. :)

Ah the twist caught you out Grandpa :) Thanks for your kind words about my writing. You may have only been blogging a few months but it won't be long before you're asking where did the last four years go like me!

Why thankyou for your kind words Valerie :)

Cheers Anthony x

The surgery was four years ago Mona so all forgotten now. :)

I intend to AJ :)

I imagine a dishwasher is a lot hotter than a sauna Brian! Thanks m'dear.

Aw thanks Dumda, I hope I am able to do another four years (at least). LOL

Thankyou Teena and welcome. :)

We have been friends for a long time G, I remember I found you and Friday Flash Fiction through Queenie, God Bless Her.

Yes you're right Bee, we met just after my surgery I think. I'm really excited about what you're sending me honey, you're so kind. xxxx

Quite a few of us started blogging round about the same time SAW and you're right, it does bring so much pleasure, mostly through the lovely people one meets in the blogosphere. :)

You and I have been following each other for quite a long time, if not from the very beginning Linda and long may it continue. Haha you didn't manage to guess the outcome this week. LOL

Why thankyou gautami :)

Before blogging I can't remember what I did! LOL

how did the knee replacement surgery actually go?

i knew someone who was down for a hip replacement until the idiot topped himself in front of a tubetrain

but i told him look the ball and the socket are both artificial so all you do is let the new bit fuse to your bone, there's no torturous physio having to move a joint that's agony

and he perked up at that

i said i knew this as my own hips hurt me and i wanted to know if i got old and needed a replacement what would be involved

ie nothing too extreme

but something was bothering him called "meow" i think you do know what meow is, he gave me enough to get me off my head it was legal and STRONG man

i think they were miserable bastards banning it when there was no proof it harmed anyone except idiots who took an entire packet at once

having said that it was considerably stronger than cocaine, it's called meow because it's 4methcathinone and cathinones come from khat those leaves Somalis chew, which are to E Africa what coca is to S America

I have to say after trying it once I never wanted to be bothered with it again

I get my euphoria free of charge now no way am I paying some scummy drug dealer for it. Ever again.

Hope all is good with you

xx ;-)

Congratulations on four years...I've only been at it 16 months but blogging sustained my when my nursing job of 21 years ended in massive budget cuts to San Francisco's Dept of Public Health.

If only dishes could talk, I'm sure there would be a lot of laments.

Gledwood said...

why not celebrate with a nice low calorie aspartame flavoured cake?

if you're like me the sweet tooth fades with age

gone are the days when i was first in line (for a long-shaped cake) where slice number one had thick yummy icing all over one side!

now is the time for something far healthier

hey how about a small half slice of wholesome flapjack?

Gledwood said...

trust me to bang on about drugs in post one

so sorry honestly :-(

Sorry about the knee. I also suffer from arthritic back, wrists and ankle.
This getting old is no joke.

Love the dishwasher tale. Wasn't expecting that. You have a vivid imagination.

My new knee is absolutely wonderful Gleds! The surgery is extreme and recovery takes hard work and perseverence but is so worth the effort. If you really need a hip replacement then go for it. My Dad had one at the age of 80 and it's given him a new lease of life.

Thanks Mama Zen & Betty :)

Glad you enjoyed the twist Dominic. Four months blogging will soon turn into 4 years believe me!

It's been an absolute joy getting to know you too Ron and thankyou for being a faithfull reader of my drivel for so long. xx

Blogging can help in all sorts of situations I've found RNSane - I'm glad it helped you and thankyou for you kind words. x

Why thankyou for your encouragement moondustwriter x

Cheers Tony :)
