The excited children thought the piglet would make a great pet.
Mother was thrilled with it too,
she wouldn’t have to buy a turkey this year.

But I found the story very practical and true given what my grandparents told me about living through the Great Depression.
Oooh poor piglet. Still, on a morning when we're forced to stay indoors during the -12C freeze I can understand it.

Hansel and Gretal nabbed Christmas dinner and released the little fellow in the woods.
I saw a thing on tv in a middle-eastern country where they don't have fridges. So they had to keep this lamb in their garden. You should have seen their faces when it vanished and lamb was for dinner.
