The pelicans were patiently waiting for fish to drop from the sky in the expected deluge,
thus saving them the hard work of catching them.

Nice "angle" on this theme!
I miss your short stories when you're away. Welcome back! Good 140, as ever.
LOL
and speaking of deluge ... your weather button atop shows its always raining in Heywood .. too bad you couldnt bring some of that Southwestern sun home!
Great writing!
Loved this, Pearl. It's a clever take on the picture and the word is sooooo appropriate for me at the moment...lol.
Ah, anything to save effort when on the beach :-)
Sounds sooo good, I might bring my net.,
This reminds me of 'pie in the sky,' i.e. too good to be true (that's why this is fiction writing, right?).
..
Once again, m'dear, you never fail to deliver such cleverness with your words!
GREAT one!
And that photo reminds me of the many years I spent living in Florida and would see pelicans AND seagulls wandering the beach for fish.
Have a great Monday!

Someone's been reading to them about manna from heaven. The moral of this: don't read to pelicans, they think every story is a fish story.
Well done!

Thanks Dumdad :)
Aw that's nice, thankyou AJ x
It's certainly raining now Daryl and I sure wish I'd been able to bring back some sunshine.
Cheers Beach x
I know what you mean Valerie, it's raining cats and dogs here too.
So true Anthony
Right Jim!
What a great sight that must have been Ron. Thanks m'deario. x
I think you're right Kay LOL
Mission accomplished.
Like Kay, my first thought was the parallel with manna from heaven. This one certainly gave a whole new meaning to deluge. A bit fishy, but I loved it. :D
