Friday 55 Flash Fiction #203 Directions.....

"Take the next left" she said

"Second on the right now"

"Straight ahead for 200yds"

"Bear left, and straight on"

"First turning on the right"

"You turned left instead of right"

"Oh shit, that's the first and last time I'll trust a SAT NAV" thought the driver

as his truck stuck fast under the bridge!

Friday 55 Flash Fiction is brought to you by G-man (Mr Knowitall). The idea is you write a story in exactly 55 words. If you want to take part pop over and let G-man know when you've posted your 55.

My brother-in-law had that happen with the GPS system in his car. He didn't get stuck but the computer misunderstood the location he really wanted to go and sent him way off into the boonies.

I have often thought that it would be a great way of learning a new foreign language.Set the SATNAV to ,say,Japanese & eventually (!) I would understand the words!
I can help thinking that "Bridge" would be the first word I learnt!

LOL, nice one Pearl. Technology at it's best ... when it works correctly. I've had a few 'incidents' with the satnav.

I agree Melanie LOL

I've heard many stories like this Beach

LOL Bridge would definitley be a good word to learn Tony

I've never used a SAT NAV Valerie, I don't think I'd trust one. LOL

The SAT NAV got lost Brian???? LOL

Still I love GPS. I wouldn't drive out of town without it. New roads always seem to murk problems, but if you ever get lost, even the bad ones can eventually get you back on your path home or elsewhere.

You need to stay friends with your satnav and do as she tells you.

Love how you brought technology into this one, very clever!

Even through I don't own a car, I've heard several people share that they've experienced occasional 'misdirections' with their SAT NAV. But overall, people seem to LOVE it.

Have a great weekend, m'dear!

Nice one!

I always find some of directions distracting when there are a lot of turns in a row. I have only used GPS in rental cars where I already don't feel comfortable.

You know when I went to India some years ago and had cause to ask for directions it was so weird because the locals seemed to have no conception either of distance and especially of time.
Like, a European person would say take the 2nd on the left and then it's five minutes away. The Indians gave totally misleading descriptions. And they don't seem to get that "two minutes" to me means exactly or very close to 120 seconds. Not a fifteen minute walk! Crazy people they are!!

Sounds like a big oops there! Sometimes I think we put way too much trust in our technology as this poor bloke found out the hard way!
