The residents of the nursing home were privileged, so visitors were led to believe, but then no-one knows what goes on behind closed doors.

That sounds like the voice of experience! I hope it wasn't anyone dear to you.
I think anyone with a vulnerable loved one, always fears if this is the case (shudder)..
Let's hope happy things were happening behind those doors. It's always a worry for families when their loved ones have to go in a home.
sad yet true
", but then no-one knows what goes on behind closed doors."
That is so true because my mother use to work in nursing home.
So sad the stuff that goes on.
Have a great week, m'dear!
Excellent Succinctly Yours!

No one knows, indeed. There are some terrible stories come out.
Ooh, I like the O Henry surprise ending. Indeed, sometimes a beautiful exterior hides a frightful interior.

Behind Closed Doors
My baby makes me proud
Lord, don't she make me proud
She never makes a scene
By hanging all over me in a crowd
'Cause people like to talk
Lord, don't they love to talk
But when they turn out the lights
I know she'll be leaving with me
And when we get behind closed doors
Then she lets her hair hang down
And she makes me glad that I'm a man
Oh, no-one knows what goes on behind closed doors
My baby makes me smile
Lord, don't she make me smile
She's never far away
Or too tired to say: "I want you"
She's always a lady, just like a lady should be
But when they turn out the lights
She's still a baby to me
'Cause when we get behind closed doors
Then she lets her hair hang down
And she makes me glad that I'm a man
Oh, no-one knows what goes on behind closed doors
Behind closed doors
I loved that song too, it made me feel special, like I was the "me" in the song. :)

sadly true .. well writ!
That's very ominous.
Indeed they did, Jim, it's one of my favourite songs too!
Thanks Daryl x
I know Trav, the opulent surroundings made me wonder what was going on in the background.
Fortunately my experience with nursing homes is limited. There are good ones and not so good ones.
This is chillingly close to the truth. And even the nicest surroundings can't compensate for the comforts of home and family.
Succinct and perceptive.
So true and sad. Nursing homes are as bad as hospitals, no one should be left alone in them.
All too true in many cases.
If nursing homes all looked like the building in the picture, I think we'd be clamouring to get in one!
But you're right; none of us know what goes on behind closed doors.

Ah yes, how very true. I worked very briefly at a nursing home and it was quite sad.
My parents were privileged to be in a care facility that didn't look particularly posh but where they received good and tender care. We all appreciated it.
Excellent take on the prompt.

The nursing home my mom was just in following her stroke looked NOTHING like that one from the outside! Of course like you say, no one knows what goes on behind those closed doors and most of us would really never want to find out either!
