Know the feeling very well, while in the army someone in the brigade lost a small but vital piece of communication equipment while out in the field.
Hundreds of us walked the eastern Colorado praire in a long line looking for the thing.
Oh good luck with that one. I remember losing my car keys a few years ago on a moorland walk. We did look very much like this photo as we went back to find them.
(Fortunately someone had picked then up and placed them in the centre of a large stone or we might still be there today!)

Very good. Unexpected, but good. I once lost a bunch of keys (car, house) in the local wildlife park. Dog and I walked back along the route taken and my lovely dog found them hidden in the long grass.
Wonderful and truly impossible to do .. find a dropped/lost earring most places even at home!

Reminds me of my younger days, when a fried lost an earring at a nighttime beach party. Amazingly, we did eventually find it. Good microfiction!

Being in the jewelry biz, I have had times when I lost one in a pair maybe packing or unpacking too quickly at a show. Actually, just a couple weekends ago that happened. Luckily, my friend found the lost one and it's back with it's mate again. :)
