Annie heard the scratching coming from the loft.
"Rats" she thought, "from the empty house down the street".
There were no dividing walls in the roof space of her terrace of houses.
Climbing through the hatch with the bait, Annie flashed the torch,
then stared in amazement at.........
the family that had taken up residence!
Friday 55 Flash Fiction is brought to you by G-man (Mr Knowitall). The idea is you write a story in exactly 55 words. If you want to take part pop over and let G-man know when you've posted your 55.

One wonders how they got up there and what they used for facilities. I think I would have rather found rats! This story was scary!
I thoroughly enjoyed this.

Rats brough the Bubonic plague to England too Eric!

Great FF!
We've got a squirrel in the attic. Or maybe more than one by now. That'll teach us not to put nuts out for the little creatures, they want to move in now and get more goodies! Agrrhh.
in this current economy this becomes so believable
wonderful story telling as always
Hope sends a hug

Happy Belated Friday!
Oh squirrels can cause so much damage I hear CrystalChick - I hope that doesn't happen in your case. :(
That is sadly true Dianne. I enjoyed the hug from Hope. x
Yes they do Jingle
Hey, don't jest - this truly DID actually once happen to me - straight up! My first ever one bedroom flat I bought - not a family, but this weirdo I barely knew, he snuck up to my loft, and took up residence in there (God knows for how long, before I discovered him)! Shudder..
OMG Shrinky that's too scary!!!
