Nails.....

Oh what I would give to have nails like these!!!

Over the years I must have tried every product under the sun to get my nails to look like this. I don't want them to look like talons, I just want to have that lovely white fraction at the tip of my nail so I have have a French Polish.

I have a confession to make - I used to bite my nails!! Aarrrgh I know, it's a disgusting, dirty, filthy, horrible habit. I started as a child and I must have been about 18 when I stopped, by which time the damage had been done. It seriously weakens your nails and I believe they don't ever really recover, though I'm sure a manicurist would say differently.

I have, in desperation, had nail extensions. However, this has been when I am going away on holiday and after two weeks I have had to have the things taken off because either a couple have flipped off anyway or they are driving me mad. I want my own nails!

I have now discovered that by massaging Sweet Almond Oil, which is dirt cheap, into my cuticles every night my nails have grown. They are not hanging over the end of my fingers but I could have a French Polish now! I am wondering now just how long they will last before they split, chip and return to their former appearance, oh me of little faith.

Anyway for now I have nails to be proud of and I will be showing them off!

My knee

I am the least girly girl you could meet but there is one thing I have always wanted and thats for someone to 'do my nails'! I don't want long nails or anything like that, to be honest they would drive me crazy, I'd just like neat looking nails!! Maybe one day I'll get them 'done'!

Glad to hear the knee is getting stronger! Have a lovely weekend :o)

Hi talj
Yes, nice, neat, unchewed, even nails and someone to 'do' them for you. Go treat yourself!

You have a lovely weekend too and thanks for the good wishes. :)

Want some? Get some Sweet Almond Oil - MWM has nails to die for - I don't mean long, just really strong and neat.

I have also been a nail chewer too and never have stopped!! Never!! mine are just gone gone gone!! So I have to go to the nail place. It is just a habit that has been formed and I think I will DIE with that Nasty habit!! Thanks for stopping by. glad to hear that Your knee is better by the day. My poor hubby's knees are both so bad but we have to wait..Sandy

It takes a great deal of willpower to stop biting your nails - even more than giving up smoking - I know 'cos I've done both! False nails are OK it's just me I'm clumsy and always manage to rip them off.
Hope your hubby get's his knees sorted soon, I empathise with him. :(

Hi Akelamalu - I've got the opposite problem (ha ha! :-) ) My nails are so tough, they become daggers when they are too long. When I was younger, I often forgot to cut them, and got into a lot of trouble stabbing people with them in sports! :-S

I used to have trouble cutting them with normal clippers or scissors, as the tools wouldn't cut through!

I think the nails go with the hair, which is also really tough (and frizzy) and unmanageable.

Hey, cool you're able to use your knee more - I'm proud of you, girl! You stick to those weights and get that knee strong again...

Now, I'm going to do a link to your page as an example of a Peaceglobe from my 'How to Link & other stuff' blog :-) [A big well done to you, working all that out and putting it up, by the way!]

What a lovely song that is playing as I read what you've written. I'm reading that you have injured your knee or had surgery? Hope it heals quickly and you are not in pain.

I'll stop back for another visit soon!

That's why I stopped biting my nails too, because they were so ugly.

Oh for strong nails - I'm so envious of MWM's I have to cut and file them for him otherwise they'd look like a ladies!

Your hair doesn't look frizzy on the photograph down your sidebar, it looks lovely.

Oh, you're using me as an example well thankyou honey. I managed the peace globe on my own but there's so much I still have to learn! :)

I've just finished 20 minutes of Pilates which is really helping my knee. I'm getting there slowly.

I bite my nails..(hanging head in shame). I love long nails and do have fake ones put on from time to time.

I used to have nice strong nails; then I had extensions as a treat and my nails never recovered. Where did you get the sweet almond oil? I must try some!!

Glad the knee is steadily improving :)

I bit my nails when I was younger but haven't done so in a very long time. I just can't handle long nails because of all the typing I do at work. Not that they'd last though, every time I get my nails to a semi-decent length I'll catch one on something.

glad the knee is making good progress.

I bit my nails at primary school - stopped some time around 11-12-13ish.

Poor LG, bites hers like it was going out of fashion, we've tried lots of things to help her stop (she'd like to, if only because she likes to paint them black) but nothing so far....

I'll have to get some of that oil...I love to keep at least a clear polish on, can you still use it along with polish?

CS said...

Mine grow like crazy, but I since I had kids I just keep cutting them off. Not super short, but I virtually never bother with the long polished look I used to go with.

I've found that nail extensions ruin your own nails too, they leave them really weak and marked. You can get Sweet Almond Oil from Body Shop or any health food shop. It's a carrier oil used in aromatherapy.

Linda
Yes I know what you mean about typing and long nails - that's my job too so I can't have them too long - not that they every grow long enough to worry about!!!

Lettuce
Poor LG it's so difficult to stop but maybe she'll get there one day - when the urge to paint her nails overcomes her desire to bite them!

Early-bird
Yes you can still use polish it just soaks through.

cs
Oh you're so lucky having to cut your nails - I just wish mine grew enough to have to cut. I'd love the long polished look ((sigh)).
