Friday 55 Flash Fiction #65 Too Late

Too late

“Hi” he said “how are you?”

Turning her head she looked at him quizzically.

He smiled, a familiar smile.

“I didn’t recognise you” she said. He’d changed, aged.

Fourteen years but he recognised her, even from the back.

Did that mean the spark was still there or she hadn’t changed?

She didn’t want to know.

Friday 55 Flash Fiction is brought to you by G-man (Mr Knowitall). The idea is you write a story in exactly 55 words. If you want to take part pop over and let G-man know when you've posted your 55.

Always the questions when you revisit your past. Very nice.

Love this.

You always wonder about that spark...A few years ago I had somewhat of a sparke re-ignited. We talked a bunch of nonsense and after we met at the reunion nothing happened...a few months later he died of heart attack! Very sad situation...:(

at first i was sad that she didn't want to know, but then i decided it was because she was madly in love with someone else and then i was happy again. i am truly simple minded i fear!

Sometimes, it is smarter not to open a door that has long been shut.

Great 55!

Oh, I'd like to think it's a little of both!

I always love how your 55's are accentuated by such lovely images. They are always so fun to read. And always so thought-provoking.

This one sent a little shiver down my spine. And put a little smile on my face.

It's amazing the things we can get from just a glance at the back of a woman's head, or by honing in on a man's lovely grin.

This is a truly beautiful piece.

Nobody goes 14 years without changing at least a bit. My money says he just never forgot her.

*sigh*

Yes they are silly Alex ;)

Questions, questions, better off not knowing Nessa.

Exactly Snowy x

Me too Buff :)

Oh Lulda that was very sad. :(

You're exactly right Bee :)

Definitely Mary, it would end in tears!

Why thankyou Strumpet, how kind you are. x

ooh...I LOVE this one!

Because it's something that we can all relate to; having asked ourselves this question before.

Gosh...this post has me curious now.

I wonder what happened between them???

AWESOME 55, Akelamalu!

As always!

Have a great weekend!

These excercises are not merely amusing (which they ARE) but they seem to contain deeper psychological satisfaction. Mini Novels, Ake!

They say to follow your passion. Mine is to read your blog, but hos do I turn THAT into a career? LOL
Love ya, Aloha-

Funny how some people linger in our memory with that special spark that time doesn't seem to discredit. Hope your Friday has been a good one! :)

going back to the past usually never works out well...so it was good she didn't want to know. sometimes that's a scary thing if you do! lol great 55, ake :)

You're right Ron we've all been there I think.

A lot can happen in 14 years Elena, it's just too late!

Possibly Linda, she'll never know because she just doesn't want to. ;)

Could be G-man! Thanks honey I'm happy you enjoyed it.

I think there's always a certain inner element to any story one writes Cloudia ;)

Yes I agree Eaton, but best left in the memory don't you think?

The past is best left in the past I think Ciara x

Is there something significant about 14 years?

Akelamalu said...

No Cheshire Wife that's just how long it was since they'd seen each other.
