The things they do....

photograph copyright 2007

Kids that is.

Our grandson Kai and his mum are on holiday in Spain at the moment. We've had word that Kai was really good on the flight and is enjoying his holiday. Apparently though, he refuses to take off his cardigan and is walking round with his socks on his hands! Don't ask!

There again, when my eldest son was young, for about two years he would never take his coat off when we went out, no matter how hot it was.

This reminded me of my eldest brother when he was about five. He acquired a leather helmet from somewhere and point blank refused to take it off, even though England was in the midst of a heatwave at the time.

It made me laugh when my sister-in-law had been shopping and bought my niece, who was two at the time, seven pairs of new panties - one for each day of the week, and Niece insisted on putting them on all at the same time.

I remember having a favourite dress, Mum had to bribe me to take it off to let her wash it. I would only agree to this if she promised to wash, dry and iron it ready for me to wear the following day.

Mmmm there seems to be a pattern emerging here, do you think eccentricity is genetic?

Did you or any of your children have little foibles?

I was always frustrated by the fact that my girls both insisted they were never cold in winter and insisted on going out without coats, gloves or scarves yet in the summer would be all bundled up in long sleeves. I have no idea why!!

And why do they close all the doors in summer and leave them wide open in winter?

Hi my friend!
Boy, I have soooo many children, granchildren and they all have their own little things that they do...
It doesn't seem to matter if they are adopted or not...
I find myself laughing at how much they are sooooooo much like my husband and I. I guess the pattern that sticks out the most is their strong will and temper :(
OOOppps! That isn't the best gift or habit to pass down huh?! lol
Love ya hon!
Glad you're doing better...
I need to excersize too!...bad:z
Let's chat soon!

Sounds like there's definitely some sort of genetic quirk going on there with the clothing but I think it's cute! And you did grow out of it, right?

Just to let you know, I tagged you for a quick Wikipedia meme over on my page! Hope you can play along!

This is funny because just today I took my daughter and my grandson Gaige to the grocery store and Gaige had black gloves on which he insisted on wearing in the grocery store! Sometimes he wears his spidermans face and wont take it off....I think its cute, these little things they do. I had to laugh about your neice wearing all 7 pair of panties at once!!! too cute!

One of our grandaughters (6) insists on wearing the skimpiest clothes in the coldest weather and then wraps herself in a fleece blanket all day because she feels cold! I wonder at what age some of our cute kid foibles turn into irritating adult habits!

eccentricity is genetic - i couldn't agree more! this is what Aunty Lucy had passed on to me...

nice to see Kai again :)

Haha to Kai. Don't you just love it when they are 'odd'!

My mother calls my youngest 'flippin' Alice' because she is so exasperating! She has very strange habits, which she is gradually growing out of now, but one of them, yes, is going out with hardly any clothes on in the middle of winter and refusing to wear hat or gloves and getting blue lips and fingers!

Errr Yes I did grow out of it.:)
I'll be along later to take a look at the meme.

Oh they do make you laugh don't they. The sock on hands has just replaced the Postman Pat outfit for Kai.

Thanks for stopping by. All kids have their little foibles but, as you say, it becomes a worry when they still have them in adulthood!

Too funny! Especially love the one about your niece wearing ALL of her underwear. She could just peel off 1 pair every day until the end of the week, then she'ld be down to one pair.

Glad you enjoyed it. :)

I think she might have done if her Mum hadn't made her take them off!

I have five kids, and I think Ana was the one who got the foibles of all five. To this day, she has more eccentricities than she is entitled to...

She had a favorite dress when she was about 4 or 5 five. It was white with ruffles, and looked a lot like a brides dress, it was handmade, and cost a lot, but she had to have it. I told her, if I get this for you, you better wear it.....well she didn't take it off until it was to small to get over her head, she wore it everyday for about a year..haha.....I think she even slept in it.....we just let her, thinking she would get tired of it, finally she had a growth spurt and couldn't get it on anymore. Luckily..haha

Ha ha Ana got your money's worth out of that dress didn't she!
