Annoyed.....

I am annoyed!

You know they were supposed to be coming yesterday to do the cavity wall insulation? Well guess what - yep they didn't arrive!

All this was arranged on Wednesday afternoon. Later that day we received a call asking if they could come on Thursday instead of Friday, No we said we're going out. No problem they said. Thursday we received another telephone call to say "can we come on Friday to do the wall insulation?" "You are already coming on Friday" "Oh yes" they said.

We were up at 7 a.m. yesterday as they were coming at 8.30 a.m. and we had been asked to move any large pictures/paintings off the walls and any items on windowsills which might fall off because of the vibration. At 9 a.m. we got the phone call "Sorry we can't come today someone has rung in sick so we're a man down, we've rescheduled for next Tuesday".

What can you say apart from Aaaaaarrrrrrgh!

Good news though, I've had an email to say the wormery is on its way!

My knee

Saturday 5th May

I managed to get up and downstairs last night without my crutch - I admit I'd had a couple of glasses of wine so I think my bravery was down to that. I don't seem to be suffering for it this morning

Hi and welcome to my blog. Thank you for taking the time to comment. I hope you'll visit again. :)

Hiya Akelamalu - I've sneaked on my son's laptop (with the view to sussing out why it keeps 'freezing', or so I told him anyhow! :-D ) and have until it does actually freeze to visit!

That wall insulation... they're playing you around, I think. I had mine done with a grant not so long ago, and it made all the difference to this creaky little house - upstairs is actually warm instead of freezing (oops, mustn't mention that word...) - which is quite impressive, since we only have one radiator in the whole upstairs! It was soooo worth having it done.

The thing is, though,it only took a couple of hours at the most. There wasn't any problem with vibrating walls (and if there would be anywhere, it's in my creaky old cottage :-) ) Your team's messing you, methinks. I hope you manage to get it done Tuesday - it does make a difference...

so, you're getting a wormery? I must've missed that one. We had a wormery at school, but unfortunately, the person doing it forgot to drain it, and the worms all drowned :-(

Nice one on your knee! Well done you! If you have to have a glass of wine each time you have to do something new, well, who's complaining! :-D

So glad you've managed to get some computer time!:)

I think the insulation people are just really busy, their van has been in the area all week so I'm sure it will get done.

Must remember to drain the wormery then, don't want the little wrigglers drowining!

Ah yes, wine is a good analgesic! :-0

A friend of mine broke her ankle while drunk and didn't notice the pain until she woke up the next morning!

Workmen are SO frustrating aren't they? Just makes you MAD! We are so at their mercy!

Good luck with the knee.

Oh I can believe that! :)

Yes workmen are a law unto themselves - keep calm, keep calm!

oh i just hate it when workers do that! and it seems to happen more and more. makes you want to not be there when they finally do show up, but that would defeat the purpose i suppose. sigh...

I said to MWM we are not moving all the stuff again until they actually arrive, they will just have to wait!

You're right there! And they can help you move it!

I'll keep my fingers crossed that show up on Tuesday like they're supposed to!

I think by now, with my skeptical nature, I would begin to think that the whole thing is a bit of a scam....did you already BUY the insulation? Or are they bringing it? Until I have money in hand, I don't trust anyone, these days, I have been taken just to many times by crooks. i used to be pretty gulible, thinking if I was an honest person, others would be also. haha

I just noticed about your knee, that is wonderful, I have a feeling that a couple of glasses helps a bit with relaxing.....and maybe even with the pain. Although can't say for sure, let me go have a couple glasses of wine, and I will let you know if it works for me. chuckle......nah, I don't really like wine, wish I did, my husband has a glass every evening, it could be a bonding thing, haha I drink coffee, he drinks wine, I listen to music, he watches TV, I work in the yard, he plays games on the computer....we need something we can do together.......nope, don't do that either,,,,,haha

I'd tell them that you're charging them for a day of missed work for you needing to be there on two separate days.

Wine, I've found, can often be the answer to many problems!
I'll cross my fingers in the hope they will actually arrive on Tuesday.

I suppose we could suggest that! :)

Linda
Me too.

Nea
We know it's not a scam because we're not paying anything, it is free, and other houses on nearby have already had the work done. We were just annoyed because we'd moved everthing expecting them to come on Friday.

Re wine - give it a try you never know! :)

Letha
I'd be tempted to charge them if (a) they were charging us and (b) we had had to have time off work.

miss u
I know what you mean about wine ;)
Well if they don't arrive on Tuesday I will be making a complaint, even though we're not paying!
