The lagoon trips started at 4 p.m. (when it was a 'little' cooler) and we had a short walk down to the marina to pick up the little boat. There were a lot of people on the boat who, for some reason best known to themselves, all wanted to sit on the same side of the boat, and some of these people were huge! Now don't get me wrong I have nothing against big people, (I'm one myself, which is why you won't see many pictures of me on here!), but the boat was in danger of turning over until the guide (one of the animation team) politely asked some of them to shift their a$$es to the other side! That was a bit of a hairy moment but the boat stopped rocking and we set off. Phew!
As we set off along the lagoons our guide was explaining about the origin of El Gouna and pointing out the different styles of hotel, whilst the 'captain' of our little
The views were magnificent as were the hotels and private residences. The owner of the land El Gouna is built on has a house on a little island of it's own connected to the next island by a bridge. We also saw a house which is reported to belong to Omar Sharrif.
The whole trip took about 45 minutes and was really quite pleasant, once everyone had parked their bum and stopped trying to tip the boat over. When we got back to the hotel I went for a much needed Rum and Coke and a lie down!

(unreasonably satisfying, haha)
i've really enjoyed catching up and looking at your holiday pics. What a fabulous place, i'm glad you had such a good time - and some lovely lovely heat and sun to keep you going through this strange english summer...
I agree...it's been great looking at all the pictures and reading all about it. I almost feel like I went there myself.
I wasn't there...was I?
Glad you've enjoyed the pics Lettuce - unfortunately there's more! :)

Thank you very much for taking the time to visit my blog & leaving a comment. All my posts are just individual self contained stories so you can read them in any order & at anytime. They are there to make people laugh. Humour is my life & since the accident I have only been able to communicate by blinking one eye slightly. It takes days for my nurse to translate just one sentence. It can be a confusing system at times but is the only way I can write. My god! The sweat that goes into every gag. When I think of that it just makes me want to cry, but that just causes nurse to start scribbling when all I want is a tissue.
On one occasion an eyelash got stuck. I was in agony & nurse ended up translating it into a letter to the United Nations complaining about the price of beef fat.
In relation to your post I once had the same problem whilst on holiday . No hairdryer in the room. I was livid. “Don’t worry about it” said Mrs Peeler. Don’t WORRY. Then it hit me, there was a solution.
I shaved all my hair off. I wasn’t going to let them spoil my holiday, no sir.
Thanks, please visit again.

This whole vacation looks just dreamy, Ake, what a gorgeous place!! Did you come home relaxed or tired? You probably didn't want to come home at all! :-)
they are beautiful shots! i am so amazed that there are so many lovely places that i have never even heard of. why only a few months ago i got wind of dubai and i am now totally fascinated with that place! thanks for sharing...
smiles, bee
Lovely photos. I like boat trips and being anywhere near the water. But, there are always folks around who don't have a bit of sense.
Eagerly awaiting Part 4....
What a neat place you went to! Once, we did a boat trip(2-3hrs) to see some natural rock formations on Lake Superior. A group of French-speaking tourists were on board. When we cleared the harbor, waves were in the 5-7 foot range. It was the first time I ever heard people throwing up in a foreign language....
grannys this is a story right, it's not true? You're so funny! Thanks for stopping by. :)
We came home totally relaxed Josie which is unusual for us as we usually go beserk on holiday! :)
Bee you've probably heard and been to far more places than I have on all those cruises! :)
We love boat trips, even though MWM can't swim - his Dad was a sailor so it's in his blood somewhere cs.
Coming right up dumdad

Throwing up in a foreign language I can just imagine what it sounded like
"Dieu d'Oh, m'a laissé mourir"
"Oh God, let me die"
yes it is just my strange humour. next time you visit may I recommend you read "at the end there will be lots of tubes & hushed voices" you will find the link on my sidebar. it is a tale inspired by my mother.
