Microfiction Monday #12

Susan at Stony River hosts this fun theme each Monday, so do pop over and read the others who have signed Mr. Linky. The rules are thus:

Every Monday Susan will post a picture for the subject of your story. Microfiction means the shortest of short stories. Think Aesop's fables, comic strips, or even jokes: complete stories that can be told in under a minute. For this game, the limit is a tweetable 140 characters or fewer, including punctuation and spaces.

Here's today's picture and my contribution.

At tea with the new vicar, Mabel was horrified to see a plastic lobster and flowers in the milk jug!

She instantly decided he needed a wife.

Oh dear! She must have been so shocked by the lobster and milk-jug-flower-vase that she didn't even notice -- the SAUCER WAS AN ASHTRAY!!

Akelamalu I laughed out loud! I'll admit I only took this photo (a few months ago now) because this was the actual state of the windowsill behind my kitchen sink -- and I thought, "anyone visiting would worry for my sanity" ... I took the photo to remind myself *when I got sane again* to appreciate how far I'd come! ROFL

Well, Mabel had best not come visit our house. I'm afraid she'd find much worse.

It does sound like the Vicar needs a Missus, I wonder if Mabel is the one. I laughed at this one, and laughed at some of the other comments. Now this was good.

It is sad but this could be my place.

It's unfortunate but true - this is something one might find in a few Nova Scotian homes...

Every house has odd arrangements that are no longer visible to the occupants because you are just so used to seeing them.

I read Susan's comment and discovered that the saucer is an ashtray! Yes, the vicar certainly does need a wife. Maybe she'd be able to throw out his childhood toys.

This is a unique take on the photo--I loved it!
