A Diversion........

One of the many tour buses

Just as a little diversion from my posts about our trip to Scotland, today I'm inviting you for a tour around Albert Dock in Liverpool - that's where MWM and I went last Tuesday.

We arrived by coach, which dropped us off at Albert Dock about 11 a.m. so we went for a walk round before deciding where to have lunch.

This is the Piermaster's House, which is a mock up of an authentic 1940's house, so we went in to have a look......

and here's what was inside....

Here's a statue of Billy Fury -recording star with hits such as Halfway To Paradise/I'd Never Find Another You/Last Night Was Made For Love - remember him?

We had lunch at one of the lovely little restaurants and bistros surrounding the dock before going to the tourist attraction (well we were tourists for the day) The Beatles Story.   We got some great photos so if you never get to visit it you'll know what you're missing.

To be honest we didn't need to go into The Beatles Story Exhibition as we actually lived through Beatlemania and both know the story by heart.  Nevertheless, it was quite interesting to see the mock-ups of the Casbah and the Cavern and other genuine Beatles items that had been loaned to the exhibition by varioius people.

Emerging from the dark confines of the exhibition into the bright sunshine we had about 45 minutes to kill before meeting the coach for home so we sat in the sunshine enjoying a pint of IPA.

I hope you enjoyed Liverpool and will join me next week for Part 3 of our Scotland trip.

Wow it is beautiful in Liverpool. Because I was never overseas it's nice to see pictures of places overseas on your blog. (That didn't sound right??). Anyway you know what I mean. :)

We spent a few hours in liverpool a couple of years ago - we were looking for Blackpool but we sort of came across Liverpool so we stopped for an icecream then came home! Bike Adventures are like that! lol!

I've never been to Liverpool - thanks for the tour. I was quite young and living in Leeds when Beatlemania broke out: my elder sister was nuts about them. I still have some Beatle cards that came with bubblegum from that era.

Loved the Liverpool scenes. Thanks for showing them. I was at a WI meeting in Liverpool a couple of years ago or thereabouts. Unfortunately, because of a limited lunchtime I only got to see the Dock.

I lived in Liverpool for four years while I was a mature student. It's an amazing city - though one you need to adapt to if you're going to live there. The Albert Dock is wonderful and I used to spend a lot of time at the museums and art gallery down there.

I know exactly what you mean Bernadine, sometimes seeing someone else's photos is the only way we get to see things. Glad you enjoyed the trip. x

Actually Liverpool is probably nicer than Blackpool these days Mrs N!

Ah your sister was a Beatles fan eh Dumdad. Most of us still are!

Oh you must go back Valerie, there is so much to see. :)

Nice to hear you have good memories of living in Liverpool Morning AJ :)

Why thankyou Pam, and I'm pleased you enjoyed it. :)

Liverpool looks amazing!

Loved the mock up of The Piermasters House - it was like stepping back in time!

When I first saw the statue of Billy Fury, I thought it was Elvis!

Thanks for sharing, m'dear! Enjoyed!

Hey remember when Richard and Judy used to broadcast from the Albert Dock... anyone who wished could wander along and wave into the studio during phone-ins

(which was the most interesting thing about quite a few of their phone-ins...)
