Portmerrion was built by Sir Clough Williams Ellis in two stages: from 1925 to 1939 the site was ‘pegged-out’ and its most distinctive buildings were erected. From 1954-76 he filled in the details. See here .
It is a truly remarkable place with architecture mainly Italian in design, but with lots of quirky additions such as the stone boat in the harbour.

There is a shop selling memorabilia from "The Prisoner" and a shop selling the famous Portmerrion pottery.
So, as you can see it is a beautiful and interesting place to visit, you can walk round for hours and spend lots of money, if the mood takes you.

Thanks, glad you like the pictures. I wasn't sure if you got "The Prisoner" over the pond, but Portmerrion is a lovely place regardless.
Queenie has a badly sprained and bruised wrist,not broken thankfully.
My MIL had a new knee last June, and got a scare Friday that it was infected.

I'm not familiar with the show...but the village looks very interesting...a beautiful place to visit...I'm glad you got to so we could see the pictures!

Oooer, I hope MIL's knee is OK? I know it's an ongoing thing after knee replacement to be careful not to get any infection because it goes straight to the bones!

I really enjoy getting a glimpse of your life and the countryside, and the places that are available to visit and places to eat. I watch a lot of BBC productions, and have always had a fascination to visit someday.
by the way, very nice playlist, I enjoy the songs. I probably stayed a lot longer than needed, but I wanted to hear the music. :) Very much enjoyed "Simply Red"
