Torquay Part 3....

Our last day in Torquay didn't include any excursions, so after breakfast we decided to explore the town centre.   The weather wasn't very good, it wasn't cold but it was raining.  Never mind a bit of rain never hurt anyone did it? Off we went down to the harbour.

The day may have been dull but the boats in the harbour certainly weren't.

I think there's a lot of fishing goes on here.

Torquay is quite hilly

and has lots of shops, pubs, cafe's and restaurants.

Of course we had to experience a Devon Cream Tea in one of the little cafes. I forgot to take a photo but this one borrowed from Google Images sums up what we had.

After spending all day exploring the town we took a few photos of Torbay, which is the collective name for the coast which includes the towns of Torquay,

Brixham

and Paignton

before hopping on the land train, which conveniently stopped right outside our hotel.

We had time to have a cup of tea and a rest before it was time to have dinner and enjoy the entertainment in the hotel.

We thoroughly enjoyed our time in Torquay and seeing the surrounding area.  After a good night's sleep, we packed up, enjoyed a substantial breakfast before boarding our coach to set off on the journey home.

I hope you enjoyed our Torquay trip.

I love marinas. It is always nice to watch the boats go in and out.
To buy a boat is one thing but then to board it haul it maintain it etc... is a lot of work.
It's like buying a printer today. They sell them very cheap but then charge for the ink to use them. For that price you can have a new machine with the ink at every ink change.lol

I've been to the English Riviera and thought it was lovely; especially Brixam.

And isn't Torquay where Faulty Towers was set and/or filmed..?

We once stayed in a traditional seafront hotel in Brighton and I'm so glad we did. It was like a relic from another age. Food came up from the kitchen in a sort of miniature lift and when my brother wanted a healthy option the landlady would boom "Prunes for the little boy!" It was hilarious...

I love marinas too Lady's Life, but then I just love the sea.

Yes I think you're right about Fawlty Towers being filmed in Torquay Gleds. Your story about the hotel in Brighton made me chuckle.

I'm with Bee. What a lovely break. I will put Devon cream tea on my lists of things to do. We are starting to get settled and hope to do something in the fall even if it is just Branson.

What a spanking red train!

Never knew that it was a regional-type name, as well as the name of one of the towns. Interesting!

Wishing you a pleasant thoughts &

Lovely pictures, they bring back memories. Oh for one of those cream teas right now! I just worked out that it's 50 years since I was in Brixham.

Devon cream teas are scrumptious BankerChick :0

It was a great train. Torbay is the collective name for the three towns of Torquay, Brixham and Paignton. Slight difference Cloudia.

So glad you enjoyed my tour Ron. Hope you're enjoying Florida!

Mine too Beach! LOL

Hope it brought back happy memories Flowerpot x

50 years Valerie? Is it that long since you've had a cream tea?

I want to ride on the land train. And what is that castle like building in the middle of the town. Enchanting.

Never mind the Land Train - I want that Devon Cream Tea! That looks delicious, no wonder you didn't stop long enough to take your own photo before cobbling it down!

Thanks for the nice visit to Torquay, even in the rain! Don't you start to feel at present that rain is the default position for the British weather right now?

The land train is fun Mimi and the castle thingie is some sort of monument come clock tower I think.

Oh the Devon Tea was scrumptious Linda and so big we had to take some of the scones back to the hotel to eat later!

You're so right about the weather Jenny :(

Haha me too on both counts Dianne ;)

Too many cream teas would definitely require some clothes alterations Daryl LOL

I should be taking lessons from you on how to record a vacation. I don't think we took any pictures while we were gone the last 2 weeks.
