Friday 55 Flash Fiction #170 Contents of a diary..

Sitting quietly she filled in her diary.

Mundane happenings, her family, her feelings.

Once she had started it had become compulsive

to record her life and everyday things,

however boring, even the news on the radio.

"I wonder if anyone will ever read this?"

thought Ann Frank, as she sat in the attic in Amsterdam.

The last entry in Ann Frank's diary was 1st August 1944, this is the nearest Friday I could get with my Flash Fiction.

Friday 55 Flash Fiction is brought to you by G-man (Mr Knowitall). The idea is you write a story in exactly 55 words. If you want to take part pop over and let G-man know when you've posted your 55.

Oh wow... that shook me. I didn't expect a real life situation. We wanted to go into the Ann Frank museum in Amsterdam but it was closed the whole weekend we were there... refurbishment, we were told.

She almost certainly did wonder whether anyone would ever read it. Very moving 55 words. Thanks for the reminder that even a small life is significant.

We visited Ann Frank's house in May. It is incredibly small and must have been so claustrophobic to be couped up in it for the length of time that she was. It is an amazing story.

A fantastic piece of writing.

They did, because she put in her feelings. My great aunts kept diaries religiously, but no one wants to read them because they are so dry.

Who knows, maybe your own excellent skills of saying so much in so few words will one day reach as many people as Ann Frank's diary. I know you already move and inspire many of us who already read what you say.
