Want to know what we did on 10:10:10?

We boarded a beautifully restored pullman carriage

on the East Lancs Railway

and had a long

leisurely

delicious

 Sunday lunch

whilst being hauled by a vintage steam locomotive

through the beautiful Irwell Valley

for an hour and a half.

We're off on a jaunt today so I will catch up with you all later.

Oh you lucky thing! We have something similar here on the old Great Central Railway around Loughborough, and through some lovely bits of Leicestershire. I keep trying to persuade Mister AJ to try it but I've not talked him round yet!

How absolutely wonderful and romantic! I wish we'd have done things your way! I spent the day wrestling with the stomach flu and Amoeba went to church and then to work, leaving me to suffer in blessed peace.

If what you have on your local railway is anything like ours I can thoroughly recommend trying it out AJ :)

It was indeed a puuuurfect day Denise :)

It was lovely Sashindoubutsu!

That's exactly what I wanted to do Forever Lost - let the photos tell the story. :)

It was Valerie :)

Oh yes Tony, the blues skies made it even better. :)

We did have a wonderful time Pam and the sun was shining all day. :)

I'd love to ride on the Orient Express too Ron but we have to settle for the ELR - it's a lovely substitute. ;)

Oh I'm sorry to hear you're not well Quilly. When you're feeling better you and Amoeba should do something nice. x

Fun and delicious sums the day up nicely Thom :)

It was Nitebyrd :)

MWM and I have been looking at train trips across America - maybe one day! Glad you enjoyed the post and the tree Spiky. ;)

Everything about the day was perfect RN - the surroundings, the food, the weather and of course the company. ;)

A boat cruise dinner sounds just lovely Lady's Life - I think the nearest place to us that does that is York.

Aw don't be jealous KB. ;)

It certainly was SAW :)

We did something similar a couple of years ago on the 4th of July. Pam and I, along with another couple, took an evening train ride to the Columbia Winery. Along the way we had an excellent dinner, then on the way back we enjoyed dessert with a fine bottle of wine we had purchased.

Good times indeed.

Akelamalu said...

That sounds just our cup of tea (or wine) Trav. :)
