Crash Aftermath........

'Apparently' there was a passenger in the taxi that caused the recent car crash I was involved in. I am not entirely sure that this true, as I don’t remember seeing anyone else in the car but I can’t be 100% sure. Maybe my witness will be able to shed some light on it. Anyway this passenger is claiming injury and is holding me responsible for the crash! He says the taxi was waiting to turning right and I ran into the rear of the taxi. Of course the damage to both cars is not consistent with this ‘story’. The ‘road’ he says the taxi was turning into is further on than where the accident happened, so if what he said was true the accident would have happened in a completely different place.

Both the taxi driver and I have the same insurance company – one would think in this case the insurance company would just make a decision on who they deem to be at fault and get on with, as they are going to have to pay out anyway. They are now appointing an accident investigator to take statements from all concerned which suggests to me that they don’t believe either him or me. That’s fine with me, I know what happened and I’ve told the truth. Also my ‘independent’ witnesses will verify what I’ve said is true. I don’t know what will happen if they find that the taxi driver and his ‘passenger’ are making a false claim – hopefully something serious!

I have had a few entries for the Nursery Rhyme Quiz already but if you still want to enter you can. Just email me your answers before next Monday and you could win this badge to display on your blog.

You only have to get one right to claim it!

Also, I have had quite a few entries for The Great Imagination Award.

You just have to comment on my Wordzzle post saying what you think it is that Arthur doesn't know about Fluffy Bunny. I will post all the entries and ask people to vote for which one they consider the most imaginative. This award is unique and can't be passed on.

I swear...accidents like that bring the vultures out of the woodwork. It just disgusts me to know end that people are like that. But what can you do. M'dear you know the truth and that's all that matters. Your witness verfied it and I always believe that the truth wins out in the end. :) Hang in their my friend :)

I have said a prayer for the revealing of truths. I, too, would like to think that those trying to falsify information for their own profit would be penalized.

This accident incident must be a crashing bore to you by now (sorry about the pun!)

Seriously though, by the time this investigation is finished the amount of money in salaries etc could have paid for both sides. Anyway, stick to your guns...

Honestly I could scream for you! Grrrr. It's amazing how people suddenly come out of the woodwork and want to give new statements. Perhaps the taxi driver's "passenger" should enter your wordzzle puzzle - s/he seems to have a great imagination! ;0)

There is no rhyme or reason how on earth insurance companies seem to function...

How terrible that someone would make up such a story!! I'm so sorry. I'm sending positive thoughts your way. Hugs!!

I'm guessing a taxi driver's insurance (which is sky high anyway) will go through the roof if he is seen to be at fault. I hope he gets what is coming to him for trying to pull the wool over their eyes. Good luck Ak. x

How frustrating. the same thing happened to me. A car turned out of a side road right across me (on the main road.) I hit him. There were no witnesses - i know because I used to work for an insurance company and I checked. Everyone including my insurance company told me I was completely NOT at fault! Low and behold, as it was about to go to court, suddenly there is a witness. His statement said I was driving erratically, swerving over the central , looking over my shoulder at the back seat and indicating as if to turn into the road the car i hit emerged from.this was all TOTAL LIES but what could I do? This guy found someone prepared to lie in court for him and I had no-one. i ended up acceting 25% of the blame for "giving a misleading signal". GRR. Good luck honey!!

The Truth will out and hopefully there are cameras posted that may have caught the accident...maybe I'm watching too much CSI lol...still working on the Nursery Rhymes!

the accident will work itself out. i hope it doesn't take too much of your sanity in the mean time. it is what it is, hey maybe the passenger was in a different accident, but if they try to claim soft tissue damage, it is probably fake, i would never charge anyone for "soft tissue" damage.

That's what I'm thinking Thom. Liars are always caught out in the end and I got the distinct impression that the lady I spoke to at the ins com didn't believe the taxi driver or his 'passenger'.

Thankyou for the prayer Quilly I appreciate it. x

I agree Dumdad but at the same time I want them to get to the truth, which is that the taxi driver and his passenger are lying!

LOL yes indeed the 'passenger' has a great imagination Thumbelina, perhaps I should give him my award!

I suppose they have to get to the bottom of things Gleds, especially if it's obvious that one party is lying.

The positive thoughts are gratefully received Cheffie Mom, thankyou m'dear. x

Oh I'm thankfull too that no-one was hurt Bee, well apart from the ficticious passenger.

There's always someone out to make a fast buck Daryl :(

I think that's it Laney, he's trying to make some money to pay his excess by lying.

That's just awful CG! I'm grateful I have my witnesses otherwise I would be really worried.

I don't think there are any cameras in the area Sandi, more's the pity, but I'm sure the investigator will look at all angles and the damage on the cars bears witness to the way I've told it.

I don't know what injury the 'passenger' is claiming Clean and Crazy, I have my doubts that they were even in the car!

Oh, what an irritating thing to happen, and this late too. I'm glad for you however, that their story is so off-base the investigator will surely clear things up for you. Perhaps the insurance company is using them just to put one authoritative stop to all this he-said-she-said, who knows.

I think I forgot to e-mail you my answers, oops! Will get to it.

This is outrageous!

How can someone just suddenly appear in the taxi who was never there. I mean you would have seen them. Something sounds very "fishy" here.

Try sending some Reiki to the situtation. I'm sure it will clear this up. I'll send some too!

Take care m'dear.

My thoughts are with you!

Susan, I think the ins com have their doubts about the passenger claim and this is why they are putting an investigator onto it. They were surprised when I told them he had gone to a solicitor only two hours after the accident.

There definitely is something 'fishy' about it Ron but I think it will be his undoing. Thankyou for much for sending Reiki to the situation and of course I will be doing the same. xxxx

Good Lord, that saga is continuing? And where was this "passenger" when the police were there to take the accident report?? Funny that he takes now to show up when the crash was quite some time ago. I hope that you get it settled soon, what a load of bullocks!

g-man said...

The truth is on your side Ake!!

Akelamalu said...

The police weren't at the accident Linda. They won't come out to traffic accidents here unless someone is hurt. You're right though it is a load of b***ocks!

Thanks G-man x

Your case will work out in your favor, i am certain as your impecable-ity shines through...even to insurance investigators....having been a taxi driver I know that they are ALWAYS considered to be the one at fault.

Glad you are well :}

All you can do is say what happened and let the evidence speak for itself. If you don't remember seeing a passenger in the car, then simply say that in your statement.

I'm sure everything will work out. When I went to court as a witness for the prosecution against the person they said was at fault in my accident, the evidence clearly showed that he wasn't and he was absolved of guilt.

Maude Lynn said...

A mystery passenger appears! That's just bizarre.

buffalodick said...

Why weren't they a witness from day one? Who would have been able to say what happened better than a third party not related to either party in the collision? I call Bullsh*t!

Anndi said...

If you tell the truth, you'll prevail. I firmly believe that.

Mystery passenger indeed.

I'll be sending you good thoughts.

Oh good grief. Hope they figure it out quickly and can conclude that it was the taxi's fault.

Let us hope that truth wins out over lies.

Akelamalu said...

That's not right that taxi drivers should always be considered to be at fault Cloudia. I'm sorry to say in this case he definitely was though. :(

Well the truth will out I'm sure Trav.

That's what I thought Mama Zen. :0

Me too Buff!

Thanks for the good thoughts Anndi. I'm sure it will all come good.

Insurance claims are never resolved quickly SAW. Thankfully my car is fixed and I am getting on with life in the meantime. :)

I'm sure it will Dr. John :)
