is an award that has been bestowed on me by Emmie (Emmas Dilemmas and Great Expectations). Yes, I know what you're thinking "she's got another bl**dy award!" Well I like them and if people think I'm good enough to receive them it would be very churlish of me to refuse wouldn't it?
So my thanks to you Emmie I'm honoured m'deario. x
So here it is:
Anyway like most awards it comes with rules:
"The Honest Scrap award comes with a caveat or 2. Firstly you have to tell your readers 10 things about you they may not know, but that are true. Secondly you have to tag 10 people with the award."
I now have to think of 10 things about myself that you may not know, not sure I can do this but I'll try.
1. I've been on a diet since 7th January 2009 and have lost 16lbs to date. I have another 28lbs to lose to reach my target weight.
2. I will celebrate my 60th birthday in November 2009, and retire in December.
3. I broke my ankle when I was 12 years old during a gym lesson at school. It still aches during cold weather.
4. I tore my anterior cruciate ligament in my right knee when I was 14 in another gym lesson at school. This led to arthritis and a total knee replacement two years ago. This has given me a new lease of life after struggling to walk for the past 10 years.
5. I hated gym lessons at school - can you blame me?
6. I have a condition called Heberden's Nodes, bony growths on the terminal interphalangeal joints of the fingers caused by osteoarthritis. At the moment is is only my index and middle finger on my right hand which are affected at the moment. However, there are signs that the index and middle finger on my left hand are heading the same way. Not pretty but unavoidable it would seem.
7. I had a total hysterectomy four years ago.
8. I had my ears pierced when I was two years old by my grandmother who used a darning needle! Ouch!
9. I have a high pain threshold.
10. I won't be leaving this world with everything I arrived with!
Now I have to pass this award on to (i.e. Tag) ten more bloggers, so here goes. It's not compulsory if you really don't want to it but if you do please let me know so I can read the 10 things about you.
Step up to the plate:
Thom (Thom's Place 4 Well Whatever....)
Dr.John (Dr. John's Fortress)
Connie (Connie Picture That)
JAPRA (Just A Plane Ride Away)
Nick (Nick's Bytes)
Daryl (Out & About In New York City)
Dianne (Forks Off The Moment)
Smalltown RN (A Place I Call Home)
Coudia (Comfort Spiral)
Pam (Finding Pam)

Thanks, Akelamalu. I received your message about the award about ten minutes after you posted it to my blog.
You realize, I hope, that that was 2:25 AM and by any everything that's rational I should have been asleep which I was until I awakened coughing up, uh, shit, and got up to take some meds to stop the coughing.
So, while I was up and awaitinf the meds to work, I turned on the computer and saw your post and so here I am--still waiting for the meds to work.
Thank you for the award (and all of the work you've done for it and have now passed on to me to do).
Since I'll be up for a while yet (on the way from my bedroom to take the meds I was intercepted by Alex who demanded I open the back door for him) awaiting the cat's return from catting around in the dark, I start working on the work that that award entails.
Blessings, my dear friend!
Such interesting stuff! Well done #1 and I so agree with #5 :-)
Thank you for the award, dear! Now to think on my 10... Hmmmm.
I can't thank you enough my friend. You truly show the Aloha Spirit. Does that Heberden's Nodes affect your writing and typing? And can you take anything for it? I like number 10 as I think we all do that. I will have to remember your birthday as long but I need the day :). Again thank you so much. This means a great deal to me. :) Aloha my friend :)
Boy, gym certainly wasn't healthy for you.
Thanks for the award. Hummm what 10 things should I say....
I am 54 by the way.
Sounds like jym was tuff on you.
Akelamula, I don't think you can ever receive too many awards. I am happy for you because you are so worthy and deserving.
I am humbled and happy to accept your award. I will have to work on it later as I have to work today.
I do hope you are able to use your hands with those nodules on your fingers. I did not know what they were called. Thank you for the information.
I guess you can tell that I have not been posting as of late. I just don't have anything to say. This award will hopefully inspire me. I just will have to think of what I can say.
Have a great day! Pam
wow you really had a rough time during gym class I can see why it doesn't hold fond memories for you.
Thank you my friend for the award...I will endeavour to pass it along sometime this week I will let you know when I do...for now I am off to work...
It was 6.30 a.m. here when I posted that comment Nick. At least it gave you something to do while you were waiting for Alex. x
Ah another gym hater JAPRA and thanks on #1.x
The affliction on my fingers doesn't affect my typing or writing Thom it just looks ugly. I do take Indomethacin for the arthritis though it only deals with the pain which I sometimes get. You're welcome to the award m'dear. x
No it wasn't Nessa!
I'm sure you'll think of 10 things about yourself Connie :) Oh I see you have already!
I hope this little meme will set you off posting again Pam and you deserve the award hon. x
You're welcome RN I look forward to seeing who you pass it on to. :)

You SO deserve all the awards and recognition you've received, dear lady!
You always give and share so much...therefore, you receive!
SO CONGRATS on this award!!!
WOW...I've known you for over two years now, and these 10 things you've shared are all new and interesting to me. You most certainly do have a high pain threshold - it amazes me what you're been through - BRAVA!
I especially LOVE # 10 - so true!
Thanks for sharing, Alkelamalu!
Enjoyed this!
X
How many of those awards do you have now?
I like these memes too Marmie because people scratch around trying to think of things about themselves and come up with some gems!
Aw thank Ron. Yes we have known each other 2 years and I'm thankful to have met you m'dear. x
I've not counted them Buff but I have a lot! They all in a little room on Slide. ;)
YOU so deserved this .. and that's a fun list ...
I am so honored .. thank you for including me in this group of amazing bloggers
There are a few pluses to having an inlarged middle finger..
When you flip someone off, it's like SHOUTING..FUCK YOU!!!!!!
Or as you might say..BUGGER OFF!!!
(sorry..:P)
'I have a high pain threshhold' after the darning needle ear piercing story - LOL!!
Congratulations - you can't help it if you're fabulous.
Congrat to you sweetie...you do rock you know.
ha...now that sounds like it hurts. My friend pierced my ears when I was about 12 when a friend of mine pierced my ears with a big needle and a potato...for behind the ear. It hurt I guess, i can't remember the pain really.
have a fab day honey.
There are several pain-related things on your list!
Must be difficult to think of things we don't know about you AK!!!
I have been up all night working on my acceptance speech. I don't want it to seem antediluvian nor do I want it to be a prolix one. But I would want one ineluctable conclusion to stand out. That I am honored that you choose me.
I do believe my blog is both honest and scrap and thus I deserve it.
Thank you ever so much for bestowing it on me.
You're welcome Daryl, you deserve it m'dear. x
As if I would do something like that G-man, I'm an English lady! (wink)
I was only two years old when Granny pierced my ears Julia and apparently I screamed blue murder!!
My granny used a cork behind my ear Spiky but I suppose a potato would do the job just as well! Ouch!!
I know Citizen, what does that tell you? ;)
It is Flowerpot, I may have to make something up if I get any more memes like this one!
You're very welcome Dr. John :)
thanks lady! I'm in some mighty fine company there :)
I enjoyed reading more about you
16 pounds in 3 months is really good! congrats
I had a hysterectomy 6 years ago - that makes us hyster-sisters lol
there's a website called that, had it not been for them I wouldn't have known what to expect - doctors suck
Good grief, woman, no wonder you have a high pain threshold with all that you've been through! Excellent job with the weight loss, I believe I have those 16 pounds over here with me now, though, and if you'd ever like them back - please let me know!!
My doctor and I have been discussing the possibility of a hysterectomy but we've come to nothing conclusive yet. I say take the damned thing out and let it go at that but we shall see after my next consult next month.
I'm honored, mentor lady blogger!
You are not just talented, and kind, but a survivor as well.
I want to honor you by answering the questions - and Will!
Will link to ya too!
Aloha, Sistah
Hyster-sisters - I like that Dianne! You're right the doctors don't tell you the half of it! :(
I have to say having the hysterectomy was one of the best things I ever did Linda, the other one was having the knee replacement! I'm a glutton for punishment (wink)
I'm looking forward to reading your 10 things Cloudia :)
Wow! The arthritis sounds painful (looks painful on the nodes thingy you linked to) and the gym lessons? No wonder you hate gym!
Thanks for the invite into your world and you. Bet you're looking forward to the end of the year...
Oh and well done you on the weight loss! Fantastic!
The nodes can be quite painful and stiff Cath but other than that they are not a hinderance. I'm still trying to lose more weight - I will do it!
Poor you ake! those gym lessons sure didnt do you any good. I always hated PE too.. Though more because I couldnt be bothered then anything else!
This was a great post, I enjoyed it. Im glad I passed the award onto you! xx
