Friday 55 Flash Fiction #39 Round in Circles.....

Round In Circles

Round and round in a circle,
Moving slowly, pursuing each other.
Some joining, others leaving.
An array of colours, most different, some alike, diverse.
Wondering where they're from,
Where they've been,
Where they're going.
Some standing, some lying down,
Some smart, mostly jaded.
Being met and disappearing.
I'm sitting watching -
luggage on an airport carousel.

Friday 55 Flash Fiction is brought to you by G-man (Mr Knowitall). The idea is you write a story in exactly 55 words. If you want to take part pop over and let G-man know when you've posted your 55.

Nicely played! You think you know where thing's are going until you find "some lying down", then you wonder... until the last. Well done!

This is wonderful!! I had NO idea. Where do you come up with your inspiration?! (And adding to the color, my luggage is purple and it's super easy to spot.)

Happy Friday!! :)

Nice twist :) I did not see that coming!

My head reels when I watch the conveyor belt move that way!

I was thinking "Olympic Village" and you were thinking "airport." Nice! Ah, the power of the imagery in poetry.

The last time I was at the airport with my youngest, I remember thinking that luggage had gotten pretty dull as most of it was dark colors and nondescript. But I still love this poem and am totally impressed at your ability to write exactly 55 words!

I'm always intrigued by the different luggage Ciara, especially the ones full of labels!

Thanks Mojo I'm so pleased you liked it. :)

Snowelf our luggage is bright YELLOW with a red strap around with our name on it - can't miss it and a great talking point!

There probably is Buff, but I have inside information that the guys that unload the luggage from a plane are on a time bonus to get the luggage from the plane to the carousel so they just throw one bag on then sit back and you have to wait!

Aw thanks g-man on both counts. x

Oh yes Missy if only luggage could tell a tale!

All the luggage blends into one doesn't it Mona, unless it's bright yellow like mine!

I never though Olympics at all Riverpoet but now you mention it I can see it!

Thanks Gewels xx

Oh you're very kind Sandi thankyou. xx

Cheers Flowerpot :)

I saw some wonderful coloured luggage on this last holiday Linda, I thought mine was bright but some certainly outshone it!

Wow! Sounds mesmerizing to me!

You had me fooled, Pearl. Evocative piece.

"Being met and disappearing." I believe that's my favorite line.

I HATE picking up the luggage! Mine always has colored yarn on the handle. Trick I learned from mother in law. Very clever, "A". Surprised me.

Well done. I thought at first that you were describing a carousel. I had an 'AH HA' moment when I got to the end. Very clever!

That made me LOL! It was totally unexpected. I was thinking butterflies or fireflies or something.

LOL I'm always thrilled when folk are surprised at the end Trav, that's exactly what I aim for. :)

I am ready to watch the vacation slide show and hear the antidotes about the rigors of travel post-9/11 and the complaints about diminishing services on airplanes. Thanks for taking me to one of my favorite places ~ to the airport!

This perfectly captures the expereince of waiting for your bags to make their way to you.
