Celebration of Life..

Dad and Mum
Together again

Everything sorted now. No funeral, Dad left his remains to The Anatomy Dept at Manchester University for research. Instead we're having a huge party to celebrate his life, on what would have been his 87th birthday in November. He would have loved that.

Thankyou all so much for your kind messages, I really appreciate them all.   We are going away this weekend for a few days, something that was planned months ago and I know my Dad would want us to carry on - he was always saying 'Life Goes On' and indeed it does.   Eventually the pain will ease I know and the love my Dad gave us will never die, he will always be with us.

I will be back blogging soon I hope.

The grands are too young to really understand what has happened Daryl but we'll make sure they remember 'Big Granddad'.

Well he lived a full life and it should be celebrated. That was very brave and selfless of him to donate his body to science.
But it is still hard to say good bye.

A celebration to honor and remember his life is a wonderful thing.
That's a lovely photo of your parents, I'm sure they are together now.
Hope you can find some enjoyable moments this weekend even though your heart is heavy with sadness.

What a generous thing for your dad to do. And I like the idea of a life celebration. It sounds like your dad had a great run.

A girl's first love is always her father and nothing can replace him but sadly we have to learn to live without him. He would not want you to be sad. I am sure that he would approve of the party.

I want to leave my remains to medical science too. Some people have said I may not be able to because of the risk of hepatitis C but I have tested negative for that twice I would FAR rather have some medical student learn perhaps more from me in death than I ever learned in life (well, in a way) than just be wasted I looked into getting all the documentation done a few years ago and was so inundated by details and so addicted to you know what nothing ever got done but it's definitely on my to do list PROPERLY. I do not want to be cremated if I can avoid it and there's no room for burial anywhere in London!

Daddy knew his girl was full of life and living. You were absolutely right to give a celebration.

Give yourself the time and space you need.
