A Looooong Weekend......

Lucky for me I finished work last Thursday for a long weekend – back to work yesterday. Of course MWM and I made the most of it, here’s what we did.

Thursday evening we went to our local pub where they were holding a quiz night. We don’t usually go out during the week because I have to be up for work at 6 a.m., so we thought we’d take advantage of my extra day off. We pitted out wits against just another two teams, consisting of five and seven members. We did exceedingly well coming second to the 7 member team but when we suggested the other teams divided their scores by the number of team members to get a more realistic score, they weren’t having any of it. Anyway, we won four free pints for our trouble but as we’d already had three each we put them on ice for another time.

Friday we did some gardening. Unfortunately our front lawn had been covered in moss and the weed and feed we’d put down showed just how much moss when it killed it all. We decided we would have to re-seed the lawn so had to rake all the dead moss up – this took two hours and it still wasn’t all up! We decided to have another go at it on Saturday and as we’d worked so hard we decided we deserved a treat so went to the pub again to claim our four free pints. It turned out to be a great evening as some friends we haven’t seen for a while arrived and there was a great singing artist on at the pub.

On Saturday after visiting my Dad and in-laws we set to work on the lawn again and managed to get all the moss up, so now we have to sow the grass seed. I’m not sure when we’ll get that done as the weather is abysmal here at the moment, hopefully next weekend will be fine so we can do it then. In the evening we went to a local club with our friends K&T and had a great evening.

Sunday our youngest son and his two boys came for lunch, we had a roast dinner with Yorkshire puddings, the boys adore them. We don’t usually go out on Sunday evenings but of course I didn’t have to get up for work on Monday so what the hell – we met up with K&T again at the pub. Our eldest son and DIL arrived too, unexpectedly, which was really nice.

Yesterday MWM and I cleaned the house from top to bottom and then we picked K&T up at 4 p.m. to go to Nont Sarah’s, a lovely pub/restaurant in Huddersfield, for tea. I made an absolute pig of myself with a starter of Spicy Crab Cakes with Chilli Dip and Salad, then a main course of Pork Chop and apple sauce, mushrooms, onion rings, grilled tomatoes, carrots, peas and chips, all washed down with a glass of white wine. Then to finish off a Cappuccino and a slice of treacle tart with custard. I tell you I could barely move when I finished eating! MWM’s, K&T’s meals were as huge as mine, so I wasn’t the only one being a pig honest.

We arrived home about 6.30 p.m. and just lounged about watching TV until 11 p.m. when we went to bed.

So there you go, that was my weekend, what did you do?

Sounds like a great weekend...you really made the most of it! :-)

Lets see...drove down to portsmouth (6 hours) to fetch my oldest daughter, did lots of gardening (mostly lopping back the branches so I could see where the garden should've been! :-D); watched Coraline with the kids (by the makers of Nightmare before Christmas...good but a bit scary for younger ones though); more gardening...pruning and mowing the lawn; walks; becoming a member of 'Facebook' taking my lovely daughter back to Portsmouth (another four and a half hours)...that's about it really

Btw...tell YWM from me he's really, really lucky to have you!!!

xx

We drove North, gambled at a casino, and I cooked a lot Sunday. I have been to one sit down restaurant since I quit the steel business in October! Eating lunches with customers for 30 years, puts you off restaurants for a bit!

I think you needed all those calories to replace all the ones burned with all that hard lawn and house work .. not to mention all the calories burned during the quiz at the pub ...

My weekend was spent nursing my bad back and staying in out of the rain!

WOW Annelisa you had a really busy weekend, I hope you managed a little bit of rest inbetween all the work? x

I'm sure you have some really exciting food where you live Thom. Now if/when I get to Hawaii I'll try that with you. :)

We packed a lot in Nessa for sure!

You'd love our pubs G-Man and our grub! :)

I suppose being in restaurant all the time could put you off eating out Buff. You're such a great cook though there's no need for you or Mrs Buff to eat out! :)

Glad you enjoyed the post Bee :)

Aw sorry to hear you were nursing a bad back whilst I was enjoying myself Daryl. Hope it gets better soon m'deario. x

Watching TV and relaxing sounds a great way to spend a weekend Salute :)

Nothing wrong with that eh CG? LOL

You made me full describing all this food intake. lol

My week end was not as exciting but thats ok, I had enough exciting days in my life and look forward to some non exciting ones.Sometimes not having places to run to is just fine with me.
Have more time to relax with my husband, read the papers, watch news, which I try to avoid since it is so depressing and puts me down.
My cousin is gone to Afghanistan for 3 months and this alone is quite upsetting. I don't see the point in all this.
I hope they can find a solution to this problem but I guess not enough people have died yet for them to understand war is hell.
My sons soccer has kept us busy and happy.
He went to San Francisco a few weeks ago and this week he is going to San Diego. He came back with a horrible cold from San F(we rather say cold than swine flu)and hope he doesn't reinfect himself again in San Diego. One school in Northern BC closed because of flu and my sons scholl is close to closing if it doesn't get better.
As they grow, the games become super to watch.
Sometimes they are better than watching Manchester United.
Thats about it.:)

When you are retired the weekend isn't much different from the week.
Glad you had a great time.

Isn't it amazing how by just having that one extra day off makes a huge difference in how much more fun you can have???

I love long weekends.

Sound like you really enjoyed yourselves! Good for you!

My weekend?

I worked. My days off fall during the week (which I love). I like having off when everyone else is working. Everything is less crowded.

Omg.. .I can eat a lot too!

Enjoy your evening, dear lady!

Sounds like a great weekend! Now... what did I do?

Weekend started Saturday for me with ministry in the morning then entertaining child and his friend - taking swimming, to park, cooking tea... finished with a watch of tv and bed. Sunday (after worship) I grabbed two hours for myself and went to see a friend while dad took little one fishing and Monday after ministry again I went to see my mum and relaxed in her cooking. :)

Now back to "normal".

That sounds like a wonderful weekend. And who can blame you for eating all that food? Any food you don't have to cook yourself doesn't have calories anyway.

At least that's my theory.

Mostly our weekends are mundane A Lady's Life but last weekend was a bank holiday and I got an extra day off work too - hence the hectic weekend. It sounds as though you have more than enough to do and plenty of excitement :)

I understand Dr. John MWM says he only knows it's weekend because I'm there!

Gardening and Shopping make a busy weekend Connie!

That extra day off made my weekend seem like a week Ron! I like to take the occasionaly day of during the week and go shopping, as you say it's less crowded then.

I haven't dared get on the scales since the blow out at weekend Ciara! :0

I fancy a camomile lawn Citizen :)

Just lovely - yes Cloudia;)

A visit to your mum will be much nicer than anything we did Flowerpot x

Well your weekend sounded just as good as mine Thumbelina :)

You are so right RC having food cooked for you when you usually do ALL the cooking is a real treat!

wow what a weekend you had. My time pales compared to yours. I went on a motorcycle trip over a narrow strip of land that was suspended 24,000 feet over a river of pirana. Then I climbed up the side of a slick hill and had a plate of muskrat stew and lemondae.

Finally I woke up

Now that is a weekend. Mixing work with food and drinks is how I like it.

I'm working on my back garden this weekend. I'm thinking about a big project...building a patio on the south side. I might have to hire a few fellas to do that job though.

ciao sweetie...I loved your weekend you spent with your man. :D

I made you hungry didn't I Jo? LOL

Well it won't be long before you won't have to get up at 6am unless you want to, and you can go out any night of the week you please!

Oh yes Trav - I'm counting the days!
