Born November 1957 and destined to make a lot of people rich, a benefactor.
People were more than willing to invest their hard earned savings,
Especially as they were guaranteed their original investment back whenever they wanted it.
Affectionately known as Ernie......

I'd forgotten ab out Ernie... is it still around?
Yes, and I'm still waiting for my payout....
Nice 55 indeed!

Thanks Melanie:)
Yes ERNIE is still going strong as far as I know Valerie
I'm still waiting too mylittlewordz LOL
huh probably the precursor for the random lottery number picker here in the states...my FIL plays all the the time and swears he breaks even..
since i don't play the lottery i'll never win it! sarge's cousin won three million a few years back and promptly got sued by all his coworkers for not asking them to join him in the ticket buying! lawyers got a big chunk of it.

My husband still has some premium bonds but I imagine they'll be useless now!

Ah, memories.
Could be Brian :)
Shame about Sarge's cousin Bee!
No Premium Bonds will still be good they stay in the draw until you cash them in Crystal Jigsaw.
I take it you used to have some Anthony?
I'm amazed at what I learn reading 55's.
Yep...
Ernies picks are as good as anyones.
Loved your Lucky 55 Ake
Thanks for playing, and have a Kick Ass Week-End
Don't know anything about ERNIE but a slime ball named Madoff promised something similar.
He's now in prison for the rest of his life.
I'd love to make very good friends with Ernie - best friends even!

ERNIE paid me £50 on an investment of £10 which must be the soundest investment I'd ever made
(yes I know there is a £100 minimum but I bought £110 worth; sold the £100 back, leaving myself with £10...) 3 guesses what the money went on!
Hmph, both my neice and big sis' have had a payout from the bonds I gifted them a few Christmas' back. My own? Nada! (Pout)
It's always good to learn something new isn't it Nara? :)
hmmmm Lady's Life?
Glad you liked it G-man x
Oooh Madoff sounds like a conman Beach
Me too Linda ;)
Yep Cloudia :)
Cheers Ron :)
Well done on the win Gleds, shame you didn't spend it on something more worthwhile though.:(
Thanks Adam :)
My Mum used to win regularly but the £10 worth I bought my two boys when they were born have never won anything at all in the 30+ they've had them Shrinky!
I guess it's the selling of hope and fantasy, and who doesn't need a little of that?
