After the rain.....

all day Tuesday and our trip on the Ffestiniog Railway, Wednesday dawned overcast but warmer, as you can see from the photo above those young ladies were braving the sea!

We decided to take a walk along the beach.....

By the time we stopped for a rest the sky was brightening somewhat and there were a lot of people taking their boats out and making camp on the beach so we thought we'd join them. We went to the shop and bought some supplies for lunch, picked the cool bag, rug and books up from the car and spent the rest of the afternoon on the beach reading.

The following morning, our last full day, we awoke to bright sunshine and it was really warm. After breakfast we took a walk down to the other side of the harbour and sat on the beach. MWM offered to go and get some supplies for lunch and the rest of the paraphanalia ie rug, books etc whilst I enjoyed the sun. We spent the rest of the afternoon sunning ourselves, reading and watching people come and go in their boats, children playing in the sand and dogs splashing about in the water chasing sticks thrown by their owners. It was so hot I burnt my legs which I had inadvertantly forgotton to put suncream on!

All to soon it was time to leave the beach and go back to our B&B to shower the sand of our bodies and out of our hair. We had booked a table at the little Italian Restaurant in the village for dinner and very nice it was too. We retired reasonably early that evening as we wanted to set off home just after 9.30 a.m. the following morning.

Thankfully Friday dawned bright and warm again and after breakfast we popped down to the shop for some supplies for lunch, we intended stopping at Bala again, and we were away by 9.45 a.m. I drove to Bala, where we stopped for lunch, then MWM took over for the rest of the journey home. We arrived home about 1.15 p.m. then once I'd sorted the washing out I popped down to the supermarket to stock up on supplies.

We had a wonderful four days in Abersoch and decided if we win on the Lottery we'll buy a house there overlooking the sea. It will have to be a substantial win though because those houses cost in excess of £1,000,000!

I hope you enjoyed our holiday in Wales?

We're off on another jaunt today, so I'll catch up with you all later and of course I'll be posting about where we're going today.

Oh, a day on the beach reading! I could so do that! there is a beach within walking distance of my house. Of course, tomorrow I have to go to the Employment Office and everyday I look for work, so when to go .... midnight? Hard to read then, probably.

Enjoy your wonderful days out. The beach looks lovely. I especially smiled at all the boats on the beach on their trailers, rather than in the water.

Sounds like you had a great time.

There used to be a time when houses in Wales were relatively cheap - not so now apparently!

What fun that was .. I so enjoy our holidays together .. really and I thought as I enjoyed the photos what wonders will we share when you retire this coming year? I am excited thinking of all the possibilities ...

And I always forget to put sunscreen on my legs ... yet they stay white/pale and very sickly looking in skirts/dresses and yet not so terrible in capris .. odd, no?

Oh Beautiful! I've been wanting to visit the sea since we got here, since it's warmer here than at home, but *sigh* haven't made it and it doesn't look like we will. Ah well, maybe next year? LOL

I love love love that top photo---it would make a fantastic story prompt!

Hubby likes visiting the Ffestiniog Railway but we haven't been for a while. Wales is a beautiful country and your slides showed it off really well.

I just can't get over how BIG the beach is there! I don't think I've ever seen one that big here in the States!

I know what you mean about winning the lottery and moving; I've got a couple places in mind - I just need to get that winning ticket first!

Sounds great I am very envious!

Those boats were on the water not long after that photo was taken Quilly - they looked much nicer there! You can walk to a beach? Take a day off from looking for work m'dear and go read on the beach. xx

Ah yes, years ago houses in Wales were cheap but not any more Dumdad, especially in Abersoch it's a very desireable place to live, even the beach huts are going for £70,000!

Glad you enjoyed it Tisha :)

The beach huts are great aren't they Bee? As I said to Dumdad they are being sold for £70,000 now because the beaches there are just beautiful.

I'm so pleased you've enjoyed the slide shows G-man x

It's my pleasure Buff I just wish you could all see these places for yourselves. :)

I know what you mean about white, sickly legs Daryl, mine are usually like that, except when I burn them! :0 I'm so happy you enjoye our little trips.

Oh what a shame you haven't been able to go to the sea, especially as it's warm there Susan. Still you've had a great time, I know from reading your blog. I like the top photo too - a proper seaside photo isn't it? :)

MWM likes visiting ANY railway Valerie! LOL I'm pleased with the way the photos turned out too. :)

How wonderful to be going to the beach in December Connie! I only did it once, back in 1999 we went to Sri Lanka and the Maldives for Christmas and New Year - stuff dreams are made of. :)

That 'add your review' is a nuisance Thom but if you just click on the little cross in the corner it will close that box down and you can view the slide show. Glad you enjoyed them hon. x

LOL you're right Cloudia the Welsh sea does sound as though it has more consonants! I'm so glad you enjoyed our trip m'dear. x

Ah, I'm so pleased you enjoyed them Dr. John :)

It was very warm even though it was overcast Dianne so we enjoyed it, then on the last day it was glorious! I love Duffy's music too but for some reason the player isn't working - I'll have to fix it.

Oh yes, the sea is definitely cold here Spiky! If you come to England touring you must come visit me!

Oh the tide goes out a long way wherever you are on the English coast Linda hence the huge beaches. Buy that lottery ticket honey - you've got to be in it to win it! We can have our dreams can't we? LOL

I'm envious of you living where you do Flowerpot - such a beautiful part of England.

I love Wales. With a middle name like Ceridwen I would wouldn't I? I spent a lot of my youth in South Wales but saw a lot more of north when I was in Crewe. I love the beaches and the green scenery. Off on the Brecon canal in March. bond to rain but hey, thats why it's so green.

Your trip looks wonderful. i really enjoyed the slideshows. When i think of Wales, I think of Merlin.

Ah, a perfect time, by the sounds of it. I always remind myself if it weren't for the high rainfall where I live, the island would be ruined by too many tourists! It certainly makes you appreciate it when the sun does decide to grace us with her smile, doesn't it?

Akelamalu said...

It the large expanses of green in Wales that makes one gasp with joy, isn't it Carol? :)

Ah yes Merlin, Nessa. Glad you enjoyed the photos.

I suppose there are drawbacks to living somewhere so beautiful Shrinky - everyone wants a piece of it.

Congratulations on your Post of the Day! Found you there. Lovely travels. I am in California and can identify with the exquisite ocean front views and exceedingly high prices! I would have to win the lottery, too, or find that Bill Gates wants to bless some computer deficient, middle-aged, menopausal mom of two teens! :)
