I'll do it tomorrow......

David’s (Authorblog) question for Weekend Wandering this week is:

Do you ever procrastinate?

If you would like to join in here’s what David would like you to do:
Please answer today's question on your own blog, any time until next weekend. Just link to this blog (or to this post) so I can follow the progress of the discussion.

Very rarely, If I need to do something I prefer to do it right away, well within a couple of days anyway.

For instance last Friday, when I was getting ready for work, all my shoe boxes fell out of the wardrobe and as I was on the last minute I hadn’t time to pick them up. I know, I know, I have too many shoes! I apologised to MWM and said I would tidy them as soon as I got home and have a good clear out. When I got home MWM had, very kindly, put them all back in the wardrobe, so I didn’t have to do it straight away. On Sunday evening I sorted through all my shoes and clothes and have now got two huge bags to take to the charity shop and room in my wardrobes for new things. You see, I did it within a couple of days!

MWM drives me batty because he is a procrastinator of the highest order – he’ll put things off for months, even years! However to save himself from my displeasure he will usually do whatever I ask of him straight away, but jobs he has thought of get forgotten, well until I remind him! He has been retired for 3 ½ years now and he promised that his first job would be to tidy the study and clear out all old papers, magazines etc. Guess what – he’s still not done it! He has made a start (recently), but it looks to me like he’s just moved stuff around and not actually thrown anything away because there’s still no room. I would have had it done in a day but it’s all his stuff so I can’t be ruthless with it.

It is a particular failing of mine that I expect others to do things straight away and I can become a bit of a ‘nag’ if they don’t comply. By the same token if someone asks me to do something I will do it as soon as I possibly can.

My Father told me “Never put of until tomorrow what you can do today” so I don’t, because I always did what Daddy told me!

I am the greatest procrastinator too - but only when I have to do the things I don't want to do;-)

Love this song - "just my imagination" - watched the movie (Duets with Gwyneth Paltrow) and fell in love with this song.

'why do something today when you can do it tomorrow, or the next day, or the next, or the next' that's my motto. lol i am a MAJOR procrastinator. i'm a bit like MWM(trying to sort out and declutter office for two years lol), BUT i'm a bit like you, too...i expect someone to do something i ask right away lol

I am sort of procrastinating right now as I have visitors coming and I should be housecleaning. I love a task...like a good sort out - but daily chores get me down. My other half will procrastinate for ever...but then he is very busy!

I prefer deadlines. When given a choice, I'll do what I like to do first, then (maybe!) the tasks I have to do...

My Mum told me exactly what your Dad told you ...

i work well with deadlines, i just sometimes hate doing the mundane things and will procrastinate things like finishing the laundry or clearing the kitchen.

Ah there are certainly jobs that I don't like doing but I do them to get them out of the way. Glad you like the music Bella x

Double standards eh Ciara? ((wink))

I hope you didn't spend too long blogging CG and got your cleaning done! :)

That's a good compromise Buff :)

You're a good boy to do as your Mum told you David ;)

You nag Sarge Bee???? ((wink))

I prefer deadlines but I generally get things done whether there's a deadline or not Elena.

I also like things done right away! If some one else is doing it, that is. I have to be in the right mood to do it myself! A bit hypocritical, I know.

If someone else is counting on me for something I'll do it right away otherwise I start and stall so many projects.

A bit of it has to do with work but a lot of it is procrastination.

You scared me a bit - the way you say "straight away" - I swear it made me jump lol ;)

There have been times when I've procrastinated so long that I've forgotten what I was putting off.

LOL!

I'm with you, Akelamalu...

I don't like procrastinating. I enjoy getting things done as soon as possible and be done with it.

This is why in a "working situation", I prefer to work alone.

Enjoy your evening, dear lady!

haha I ALWAYS put things off! I use to be really bad but I think that now I am getting older (or at least feel it) I am starting to keep on top of things! :o)

LOL I get your drift Maggie.

I made you jump Dianne? You weren't procrastinating at the time were you? ;)

You sound just like MWM Trav!

LOL I'm Imelda's cousin g-man ((wink))

Oh I know what you mean Ron I hate it when my job is on hold waiting for someone else, I have to keep reminding them! I'm so irritating!

We do change as we get older Emmie.

I'm a journalist, which means I do my best work on deadline. In fact, if I'm not staring down the barrel of a ticking clock, writing like the wind and praying my fingers keep cranking out the words until I hit the target word count, I don't feel whole.

When I've got oodles of time to do something, I often get on my bike and head into the country for a spin. It clears my head and helps me mentally organize the article. In that respect, I guess I'm being productive.

I ebb and flow with this. Sometimes I'm super motivated and get to all my "chores" right away and other times I feel as if I have glue on my backside holding me in one place.

I was going to answer this question when I first read it but then I decided to wait awhile! Just kidding!

I never used to procrastinate but it seems that lately I have been crowned royalty in this department!

I’m impressed! I wish I’d kept up some of the habits of my childhood and ‘working self’ … but unfortunately I’ve developed a habit of procrastination in the last few years … sigh!
Hugs and blessings,

I work best under pressure, otherwise everything can just go whistle. I leave everything up until the last minute, then amaze myself by getting the job perfectly done after all. Hardly worth all the fretting I put myself through on the long build up to it!

Marianne said...

Very impressed, Ak, I'm much more like MWM I have to say. I am working hard on changing because this is one character trait that makes life a lot harder than it has to be! x

Akelamalu said...

I so agree (for obvious reasons ) about the shoes Momma :)

LOL you made me laugh Sandi :)

You get the job done in double quick time then Carmi? :) Thanks for stopping by.

So you are a procrastinator sometimes then Jeff? ;)

I think you've just got too much to do Linda x

I've actually slowed down a lot as I've got older Storyteller, sometimes it takes me a while to do something I would have done striaght away a few years ago.

I don't like having to rush things Shrinky, I'd rather have time left at the end of a job.

Ah but you're working on it Marianne ;)

Blogging has a lot to answer for Suburbia I agree! ;)
