America/Canada Adventure Part 3........

Happy New Year Everyone!

Right back to blogging and, finally, back to our America/Canada Adventure.

On day four of our trip we left Boston for next destination, enjoying the beautiful autumn colours of New Hampshire on the way.   The weather was beautiful but apparently not cold enough yet for the trees to fully turn, so we didn't really see the full glory of autumn, but what we did see was breathtaking.

Our first stop was Concord, the State Capital of New Hampshire, with it's beautiful Capital building.

We walked round the street market

Saw the lovely Post Office and Court House Building.
We were impressed with the Clock Tower, who's steel bell was cast in Sheffield, England.

We found a nice place to sit and rest.
After spending a couple of hours looking round we boarded the coach again to our next stop for lunch, Hart's Turkey Farm.  Who knew there were so many different ways to enjoy Turkey? Take a look at the menu here.
On our merry way again after lunch, we made our way through the White Mountains

to the Visitor Centre, where we met a scary bear!

Back on the road again we came to this amazing covered Bridge.
The plaque on the bridge reads:

White Mountain National Forest
Bridge Constructed by
Town of Albany
1858
Renovated 1970

We did a lot of mileage on day four, through some wonderful scenery, and were more than ready to get off the bus when we reached our destination, Fox Ridge Resort, North Conway.    We were really tired, so we just  unpacked the necessary items and headed for the restaurant in the hotel for dinner, before retiring to bed.  We had to be up early again the following morning to continue our travels.

I hope you will join me for our journey through Vermont in Part Four.

Damn, I do that every time. I'm meant to be Dumdad, or even Julian, but never Brac! I'll try again.

And this is yet another place in the US that you've visited and I have not, but have always wanted to - New Hampshire!

Beautiful photographs! I especially love the ones of the White Mountains and the cover bridge. Stunning!

Great tour, m'dear! And I look forward to your next post on Vermont!

Have a lovely weekend!

It was the same when we were in that area... the trees hadn't quite turned. We loved it though. What a delight to relive our vacation through your posts. Thank you, Pearl. Don't be too long with Part 4.

Beautiful part of the country, but from what I've heard from folks here in the American south it's actually better to fly up there and rent a car than drive.

I was about to ask you if you saw the Old Man of the Mountains, but apparently he collapsed in 2003! (He was a rock formation on a rock face at Franconia Notch in the White Mountains. Lovely spot. I enjoyed North Conway too. (First place I ever tasted Ben & Jerry's cherry garcia ice cream!)

Well Happy New Year too! Our leaves never did turn fiery this fall, because it never really got cold enough. Your trip must have been wonderful. This year we planned a trip to Europe, London, Paris and Rome. I had to place a deposit down, to ensure we don't change our minds.

Looks like you are having a wonderful time on your trip. I wonder if that covered bridge is the one in the movie, The Bridges of Madison. Thank you for sharing your pictures. Just beautiful.

It is SAW! x

I loved the covered bridges too Jenny!

I can recommend going to see New Hampshire Ron, just wish we'd gone maybe a couple of weeks later and got more autumn colours. x

Glad it brought back memories for you Valerie. xx

We flew to Boston Beach then were driven by coach, I can certainly recommend doing that!

Ah Ben & Jerry's we went there AJ. x

Oh you must be so excited about your forthcoming trip Bankerchick! We are going to Rome too in May. xx

I thought that too about the bridge Pam but there are so many maybe not. We did have a great time on the trip but it seems so very long ago now, last September. x
