Succinctly Yours - A Microfiction Meme #62

Grandma at Grandma's Goulash provides a picture and a word prompt for this Microfiction Meme and the rules are use the photo as inspiration for a story of 140 characters OR 140 words.

Want more challenge? Use the word of the week in your story. This part is optional.

This week's word is HARVEST here's the picture and my offering, using the picture and word of the week  in 140 characters, including spaces and punctuation.

The headmaster was convinced that the new technology they had acquired
would help the school to harvest some exceptional language graduates.

Brava!

So clever you are!

I remember taking Italian in high school and learning it through using an audio system with headphones very similar to the ones in the photo. The audio tape would say a phrase, and then we had to repeat it out loud. It was sort of like learning to teach a parrot - HA!

Welcome back, m'dear! You were very missed!

Glad you're back with us on these as we need your insight on these pictures.

Like Ron, in our typing class rooms we had these headsets picking up signals off the wires that came from the Dictaphone transcribing machine. Our used radio and didn't need wires hooked up to the ceiling. This was back in the early 50's.

So that's what this is, a language lab! Brilliant take on this week's picture, Pearl! I recall going to the language lab and listening to French tapes and repeating the words after I heard them when I was at UCR (University of California Riverside). I liked practicing French that way. That was in 1967. They probably still have language labs.

I learned Turkish, for my first holiday there, by listening to tapes and repeating on my way to work in the car every morning Ron. The Turks were impressed. ;)

Yes they do now you mention it Gleds!

Indeed there is Lady's Life

I think it worked and progressed to the Linguaphone system Grandma ;) Thanks.

I susppose it is Cloudia

Thanks Jim. I learned some Turkish using audio tapes.

I think schools do still have language labs Pat.

Thanks Grace :)

Why thankyou Beach :)

We were in Santa Barbara just for an hour Bankerchick, just long enough to buy something from the Beach House Surf Shop (not a Surf Board).
