Friday 55 Flash Fiction #147 Bedlam......

He dreaded this moment.

He knew what would happen.

The surge, as they found the entrance unblocked.

It was dangerous.

He wished there was another way to do it,

but there wasn't.

He had to unlock the doors

and watch as the hoard rushed in.

It was always Bedlam on first day of the sales.

Friday 55 Flash Fiction is brought to you by G-man (Mr Knowitall). The idea is you write a story in exactly 55 words. If you want to take part pop over and let G-man know when you've posted your 55.

  1. Oooo I'm getting better at guessing... it was the word surge that provided the clue. Very good 55.

You had me wondering all the way what the ending was going to be!!!!

    BRILLIANT!

And one that I (being in retail) can so identify with. There's nothing as scary as the first day of a big sale!!!

    Have a great weekend, m'dear!

  10. So True -- the day the morning sales start, always amazed me -- to watch the frenzy from a safe distance. When I was a young one, I remember it was the crushing pushing moment when the doors were being opened that a few poor souls lost their lives being pushed through the plate glass doors, Then they went to tempered glass,

    nice 55er,,,

    cheers,
    joanny

  14. LOL! My mom got caught in one of those when she was a department manager at a store in the 80's. She was actually scared for a few moments. She stood in front of a merchandise display at the top of an escalator, and yelled at the mob to "Go around! Go around!"

    It definitely is Moondustwriter

I've never done it, too dangerous for me CheshireWife

At least it's not 'as' dangerous now with the tempered glass Joanny

    You're right Quilly

I don't go to the sales on the first day G-man, I value my life too much. ;)

I can imagine your Mom's fear being caught up in that mayhem Julia :0
