The old man blinked, vaguely recongising the boy from the shopping precinct.

"This is for you" the boy handed him a cheque for £5000

"What's this for?" he asked
"To thank you" replied the boy smiling.

"Remember when you gave me £2 last week?
Well I spent £1 on a lottery ticket and won £50,000".

Friday 55 Flash Fiction is brought to you by G-man (Mr Knowitall). The idea is you write a story in exactly 55 words. If you want to take part pop over and let G-man know when you've posted your 55.
Wouldn't that be great?!!!
ReplyDeleteAhhhhh - I like to hear those kind of stories!
ReplyDeleteThat's kind of nice to do that. How many would though?
ReplyDeleteGreat 55.

ReplyDeleteGreat 55.
Oh I WISH!! I'm going to spend the rest of the day handing out €2 coins to the neighbourhood kids LOL. This story's put a smile on my face for the rest of the day.
ReplyDeleteRandom acts of kindness are the best gifts indeed!
ReplyDeleteI love how you take us on all your jaunts too. What a good time you all had on the train trip.
Have a fabulous weekend!!

ReplyDeleteI have an odd theory about giving. I think we do it because it makes us feel good...Usually that is the only reward you get!
ReplyDeleteClever one!

Glad you liked it MomsJournal :)
Humanity at its best. I am trying to get up the courage to try to do a '55 flash fiction'. It is a neat idea but I am afraid it is much harder than it looks. I am pretty wordy. My husband would be happy if I could keep it to 55 words on Fridays ~ :)
ReplyDeleteWhat luck! And how thoughtful of the young man.
ReplyDeleteI believe some people still have generous, honorable hearts. :)
ReplyDeleteEaton.
It's not as hard as you think Deb, just have a go, you'll do fine! :)
ReplyDeleteIf only it happened in real life Cheshire Wife, wouldn't it be wonderful?
I guess there are some people with generous hearts out there Eaton. :)
