So you think you've seen everything?.....

Take a look at these........

An archeological team, digging in Washington DC , has uncovered 10,000 year old bones and fossil remains of what is believed to be the first Politician.

*********************************************************************************

Nea (The Front Porch) posted this and I thought it's brilliant so I pinched it. I told her first of course. This list should be given to all high school students before they start their first year of study!

From the book "Dumbing Down our Kids" by Charles J. Sykes, 1995, and is directed at high school and college graduates.

Rule 1: Life is not fair - get used to it

Rule 2: The world won't care about your self-esteem. The world will expect you to accomplish something BEFORE you feel good about yourself

Rule 3: You will NOT make $40,000 a year right out of high school. You won't be a vice-president with a car phone until you earn both

Rule 4: If you think your teacher is tough, wait till you get a boss

Rule 5: Flipping burgers is not beneath your dignity. Your grandparents had a different word for burger flipping - they called it opportunity

Rule 6: If you mess up, it's not your parents' fault, so don't whine about your mistakes, learn from them

Rule 7: Before you were born, your parents weren't as boring as they are now. They got that way from paying your bills, cleaning your clothes and listening to you talk about how cool you are. So before you save the rain forest from the parasites of your parents' generation, try delousing the closet in your own room

Rule 8: Your school may have done away with winners and losers, but life has not. In some schools, they have abolished failing grades and they'll give you as many times as you want to get the right answer. This doesn't bear the slightest resemblance to ANYTHING in real life

Rule 9: Life is not divided into semesters. You don't get summers off and very few employers are interested in helping you find yourself. Do that on your own time!

Rule 10: Television is NOT real life. In real life people actually have to leave the coffee shop and go to jobs

Rule 11: Be nice to nerds. Chances are you'll end up working for one

I got my Hula Hoop!

And I can still do it!

  5. These are all so right on! Having taught for 30 years, I think they should be given this list in Guidance class!

Haven't tried a hula-hoop in a few years but I sure remember walking over to the store with my mom when I was 6, with 69 cents to buy a bright red one!

I wonder if kids these days will ever savour a memory as simple as that, considering their parents have probably bought them something every time they've gone out all their lives.

  6. That politician... probably died doing what politicians do best... as you said...

Your grandmother was a very handsome woman!

I tried to watch the slides :: but is there something I have to do to make the show flip forward?

When I double clicked on the show it just got me to an upload/signin page which was not what I was looking for...

and I loved the one about the Civil engineers.....let me guess, they were men....haha

As to the list......should be in every high school senior class a required reading. I know that i wish that I had read it when I was a Senior, it would have cleared up a lot of my misconceptions.....about life in general.

  13. Oh, I love this! I have a burning need to slide it under my son's bedroom door, but perhaps now he's 18, I've left it a little too late!

  14. The 'We Fix Trucks' sign would have made my dad go into a laughing fit. It's great when I bump into these, because I can hear him laughing in my head and see his face. Two things from your slide show I hope I never see in real life: the bears on the highway, and the tornado about to touch down. Yikes!

  29. someone sent me this list before, but can't remember who. a chatter, i'm sure. but i think they're funny...and w the exception of #6 they're pretty accurate. i only say that about #6 because i've seen kids turn out bad because of their parents' destructive behavior...of course there's always the flipside, too...those who turn out good because of their parents' destructive behavior.

  30. I think so too buffalodickdy

    There's always an exception Ciara.
