Succinctly Yours - A Microfiction Meme #12

I'm back from Wales!

Grandma at Grandma's Goulash provides a picture and a word prompt for this Microfiction Meme and the rules are use the photo as inspiration for a story of 140 characters OR 140 words.

Want more challenge? Use the word of the week in your story. This part is optional.

This week's word is LAVENDER here's the picture and my offering using both the picture and the word in 140 characters, including spaces and punctuation.

Daffy and Duane Duck watched as Lavender tested the temperature of the river

by sticking her head under the water and her bottom in the air.

I know they're Geese, just pretend they're ducks!

  1. I only got as far as the name Duane when laughter hit me. Honestly, though, what a way to test the waters....

  7. LOL--so cute. I loved the names, too.

We live beside a lake with lots of geese on it and I have seen geese do exactly what you described. They duck under just like ducks do!

  8. Clever - and aren't the geese lovely. I wish you could come sit in my garden at the pond and watch the ducks (and the swan when it came to visit!)
Love it if we could sit together and sip our drinks watching the wildlife. Who knows, maybe one day

  14. You shouldn't have added that disclaimer at the end. I hadn't given the "duck" part a second thought until you mentioned it.

And you've certainly shed a whole new light on that particular duck behavior. lol

  15. Now you've left me wondering whether Lavender's a fellow duck or an entirely different creature. Human? Dog? Swan? I guess she can be anything I want her to be.
