Annie heard the scratching coming from the loft.
"Rats" she thought, "from the empty house down the street".
There were no dividing walls in the roof space of her terrace of houses.
Climbing through the hatch with the bait, Annie flashed the torch,
then stared in amazement at.........
the family that had taken up residence!

One wonders how they got up there and what they used for facilities. I think I would have rather found rats! This story was scary!

Hey, don't jest - this truly DID actually once happen to me - straight up! My first ever one bedroom flat I bought - not a family, but this weirdo I barely knew, he snuck up to my loft, and took up residence in there (God knows for how long, before I discovered him)! Shudder..
