Lost
Lying here, abandoned, alone, forlorn, forsaken,
dishevelled, deserted, excluded,
obsolete, isolated, solitary.
Untenanted, unattended, useless, unwanted, unloved.
Wet, worn, destined for the scrapheap,
Never to have a partner again, life over.
How did it come to this?
Please explain how I came to be....
a lost, lone, lacklustre shoe in the middle of the street.

Friday 55 Flash Fiction is brought to you by G-man (Mr Knowitall). The idea is you write a story in exactly 55 words. If you want to take part pop over and let G-man know when you've posted your 55.
isn't it strange how you'll always seem some random lone shoe out in the middle of the street or on the side of the road? great 55, ake. i haven't got one up yet cuz i've got nothing so far. LOL my family was stressing me...maybe i'll be in a more calm, creative mood later :)
ReplyDeleteHow many times have I seen just one shoe? I don't know but I often wonder how someone could discard just ONE shoe? Must be a lot of one legged folk about... lol
ReplyDeleteGreat writing as always Akelamalu. Leaving it to the very end to tell us exactly what is happening...
When I go up to the local forest, I must see several single shoes every week. Some child's (which I can understand if they were in a pushchair or something), but some adults...this has always puzzled me too!
ReplyDeleteHi Akelamalu,
Hope everything is well and good with you. Hoping to be around more often now... so, see you soon

It's meant to go with the sock that doesn't have a mate!
ReplyDeleteLet's hope some prince scoops it up and finds the Cinderella who lost it!
ReplyDeletePeace - D
You're so good at these, Ak. I never know what the last sentence is going to reveal!
ReplyDeleteExcellent 55, AK. It always makes me wonder what happened to the owner when I see a stray shoe where it shouldn't be. :D

Poor thing!
You had me going there for a minute....bwahhaahaa

I know Mona, isn't it sad? :)
ReplyDeleteI often wonder about those abandoned solo shoes.
ReplyDeleteIt's one of life's mysteries methinks Citizen!
ReplyDeleteThere's a freaky wellington boot half submerged in concrete over the side of a railing beside the Kelvin river in Glasgow. That always makes me wonder too.
ReplyDeleteVery clever! I like this! I've never used, "scrap heap" before...must be English!
ReplyDeleteOooer Topchamp that sounds spooky!
ReplyDeleteI suppose scrapheap is probably an English term MOI
