Open Day....

Today is the start of the National Garden Scheme where people open their gardens to the public.
Now my garden is just not in the same league as those that open to the public so, I thought I'd share some photos of my favourite garden - Monet's. You can find the following paintings, and more, here.

Japanese Bridge

Probably 1918-24 (280 Kb); Oil on canvas, 89 x 116 cm (35 x 45 3/4 in); The Minneapolis Institute of Arts

I found a lovely site called The Lilacs, a house to let near Giverney, France. This is a place I'd like to visit in the future, so I can see for myself Monet's garden and the inspiration for his paintings. Not only do I love gardens I love Monet's paintings.

The owners of The Lilacs, Ariane & Alain Cauderlier, have a page of their own photographs showing Monet's Garden as it is today, like this photograph. Do take a look at the link, the photographs are beautiful.

My knee
Wednesday 25th April
Giant Leaps today. I had a shower all by myself! Although I still have to use the bathboard to get into the bath I was able to stand and do everything for myself. MWM is almost redundant!
Also added an extra exercise to my regime - stepping!!

MWM has been wonderful but I just want to be independent again. Glad you liked the links.

  6. "Scheme" is a funny word for it, to my American ears. Sounds almost sinister, for such a loevly endeavor.

Mmmm I thought the same but that's what it's called. Garden Open Day would have been better I think.

  8. So good to hear your knee is doing so well! After 3 months of strip washes ONLY and the odd 'sneaked' shower/bath, I was finally allowed a bathboard this week, it's so nice to be allowed to do what is really just a task we normally take for granted! Am glad you'll be able to lose your bath board soon!

    Lovely gardens too! {{HUGS}} x

Oh I've been lucky then - showers from day one!! As soon as I can climb in the bath the bathboards will be no more!

    Glad you enjoyed the garden.

  12. Go girl!

(YWM will never be redundant, though - I'm sure you will think of much better tasks for him to perform :-) )

I always thought it such a shame Monet destroyed so many of his paintings... I would love to have compared his earlier and later work more, and seen how different it looked to 'real life'!

ps - thinking award post to be up soon... just taking a break :-D

  16. Evening Akelamalu!

Just thought I'd stop by for peek!

I LOVE your photo selection. It REALLY puts me in the mood for Spring! I especially enjoyed the Asian looking one. Reminds me of Japan!

Here in the U.S. the weather has been so unpredictable. One day HOT and HUMID...the next day RAINY and COLD.

I'm NOT a summer person....so the cooler weather feels good to me.

I hear that the U.K. is getting MUCH warmer summers. Thank God for A.C.

Thanks for stopping by my blog today and for visiting my "Thinking Blogger Award" blogs!
    I LOVE them dearly!

    Be well,
    Ron
