Resolute.........

Thirteen years ago on January 1st I made a resolution to give up smoking and I did.

Two years ago on January 1st I made a resolution to lose weight, I lost 14lbs by December.

Last January 1st I made a resolution to lose more weight, I lost another 14lbs by December.

January 1st 2011 I made a resolution to lose more weight and go to the gym.  I'm eating healthily again and I went back to the gym yesterday.  I'll keep you posted on the weight loss.

You get the picture?    I make a resolution I stick with it.

When you make a resolution you don't do what most of us do and make a wish, you set a goal and follow through. Good job!

Started back up with the gym in September, running 2 miles on the treadmill three days a week but my weight loss so far is not what I wanted.

Thanks for posting this, you given me reason to keep going.

Those are great achievements!

Sticking to resolutions is one of the most difficult thing to do. It takes extraordinary will power.Well done!

And good luck with the weight loss.

I'm quite determined too to get out of this rut, and there are many temptations to drag me the other way

An admirable trait. Good luck with the weight loss. I'm pretty focussed with challenges but I seldom make resolutions...lol.

Great stuff Pearl - I am back at Slimming World tonight as it has been cancelled for a month due to the bad weather. Interestingly enough my thought for the day was about resolutions....

How to Make your Resolutions Last

Instead of changing many different things at once,
make a small change and when you're comfortable with that change, move on to the next small change.

Notice small improvements and bask in your inner appreciation. Your confidence will increase.

If there's one or two slip ups, cut yourself some slack.
Stay positive and get back on track. Also, have resolutions reminders. Then you'll be less likely to stray from them!

Yes I am, thanks Scots Lass :)

That's it exactly Quilly :)

Yes do keep going Beach Bum, you will get your rewards eventually.

I hope you are resolute too in getting out of that rut Grandpa. Thanks for the encouragement.

If I make up my mind to do something I usually succeed Valerie - some call be stubborn! ;)

Great advice Denise and good luck with Slimming World. x

I am still struggling with the exercise thing. I know that once I get on board I will feel so much better. Getting there is the part I can't stand.

Thanks for inspiring us to continue to try to do better. It gets harder the older I get, but I am determined to feel better in 2011.

You are obviously a very determined person. My resolution is to give up making resolutions: I'm doing quite well so far!

(I did give up cigarettes forever in 1984, an achievement I'm still proud of; I was a real addict).

WOOT!!! Congrats to you my friend. I'm so happy for you and glad that this is going your way. Excellent. I'm proud of you. I have to tell you something as well. I'm on the quitting smoking thing this year. it's not easy but I'm doing it with the help of Chantix. And It's working so far....Yes I have smoked and it says for the first week that's okay because my stop date is this coming Monday...but I've only had two packs of smokes since Sunday...and one of them is still 3/4 full...WOOT!! I'm getting there :) This is in an inspiration for me :) So a big Mahalo to you :)

If you're going to make one, then you might as well do the work required to fulfill it. Otherwise, why bother to make one?

Good on ya!

I'm sure there are other people to stick to their resolutions G-man ;)

30 years younger Sandi? I WISH!!! LOL

I know that feeling Pam but you are right - once you get there it's easier to keep going. :)

Keepin the resolution is made easier by the fact that I NEED to lose weight because of being diabetic and I don't want to die from related illnesses Ron ;)

Thanks Bee x

Giving up smoking is a REAL achievement Dumdad and something to be very proud of, I am too.

Keep trying Lady's Life, don't give up. x

Great job! I'm sure you'll do great with the new resolutions.
I was able to quit smoking many years ago without any trouble but losing weight has always been more difficult for me. But the new blender we got has been wonderful for fruit and veggie drinks so that's a start.
